Since you didn't elaborate on the problems that beset you, perhaps it's time to step away from the computer and re-engage with the carbon-based lifeforms around you.
Are you old enough to remember living during a time when there were no PCs at all?
It's amazing, but we actually functioned without a computer, internet or cellphones.
Do you need Safari? Could you run one of the dozens of other browsers?

it's my parents powerbook or whatever they're called - not really my place to go around installing other browsers.
but for example, if you were to go into the archive search page, and click on a forum to search, you have to wait for the drop-down display to scroll all the way up, there's no slider
dumb programming.
