I just saw the most AMAZING thing on my walk!
Boston College has a breeding pair of red tailed hawks that live on campus, and I usually see them flying around when I walk to class. They have a nest right by a bus station, so sometimes they fly in really close.
I, for some reason, have always had very close encounters with them. One time, the female dive bombed over my head- like 2 feet over my head. I smelled her and my hair moved :o
Today, when I going on my walk, I saw the male on one of the stone pillars that is along Beacon Avenue. He was sitting there with a freshly killed squirrel.
I obviously didn't bother him, despite being 5 feet away. I could see his eyes blink, hear him clack his beak. But he was comfortable with me. So I sat down and just watched him for about 45 minutes.
Joggers came and passed, and didn't see him! How can you miss a big raptor FIVE FEET FROM YOU? And the funny thing is, they really aggravated him, but I didn't =)
They are SUCH pretty birds:

1. Almost exactly the same thing happened to me
at Arlington National Cemetery about a month ago.

My son and I saw a red-tailed hawk dive at an amazing rate of speed, snatch up a baby squirrel, and carry it away.

They are beautiful birds.

3. You have been blessed by the Hawk.
Perhaps he carries a message for you, perhaps he is your Totem Animal, but at any rate you have certainly been honored by his acceptance of you in his space. Should this happen again, make sure you give thanks out loud. You're special if the Hawk says so!

I said thank you to him when I finally left.
It was really a special moment.
