4. Not enough
running wayyyy behind due to inclement weather and multiple distractions.

Today, I transplanted larkspers, echinachea, and cleome. . .all volunteers.

Yesterday I threw in some more bulbs (which I normally have in by early May) glads, acidenthera, and dahlias. Also planted some conventional sage and some Mexican sage (wonderous flowers late season), some really elegant ornamental ferns, a lovely pink daisy, and a gorgeous sapphire blue hybrid salvia (which attracts a lot of hummingbirds) .

The day before I planted white (get that) and very pale yellow sunflowers ( which I normally have in by early May as well).

Gonna edge and put in some allysum (multicolored) later on.

Are you sorry you asked. . .?

20. Okay sorry
got distracted outside.

"Sunflower Vanilla Ice (Heliathus deblis). . .blooms late summer 4'-7' tall, full sun." Just picked a seed pack at Whole Foods.

There are more "flowery" descriptions but I'm too wiped to type them right now. It's been a long day in the garden.

I have not grown these before, but I am reminded of what my uncle (a sixth generation Yankee horticulturist always said. . ."that white flowers either look pristine or totally dish pan.")

As for the salvia, I've grown the black & bue variety for several years. This year for some reason I gravitated to the lighter variety but may still go back to get the darker variety. There are so many varieties of sage/salvia. It's called Salvia Guaranitica. . .mature height 4'. . .bloom size 3/4" across.

Tell me where you are and I may be able to locate a distributer. Happy gardening !!!

5. Isn't that the truth....

I hauled three trailer loads of leaf mulch on Saturday and I'm still sore all over.

My vegetable garden is doing better this year than it has in a long time. At our home plot we are growing potatoes, okra, black-eyed peas, green beans, onions, cauliflower, broccoli, zucchini, lettuce, watermelon, canteloupe and tomatoes. We have been picking lettuce for several weeks. The tomatoes are starting to fruit. We will be picking beans this week. Our early potatoes just started to flower last week, so we should be digging them soon. The Zuchinni is bearing fruit also. We have a while to wait on the, melons, Okra and Black-eyed peas since they like the weather a little warmer.

At our community garden plot we planted beets, carrots, spinach, tomatoes, chinese long beans, yams, tomatillo, peppers, eggplant, okra, and squash. We let the local elementary school use our garden space in the spring, so we did not plant that garden until this weekend.

I can't wait to start harvesting.
