Anyone drive a Scion? Is 108 HP enough for city/highway mixed driving? |
|
Just curious, all the reviews I've read say the xA and xB are good cars but don't have much power when passing or accelerating on the freeway. I'd say I do 60% city/40% highway driving. What do Scion drivers here have to say? Thanks.

2. Yep, I owned a 1961 Beetle with a 40 HP engine |
|
Unless you live in SF or some other city with steep hills, 108HP is plenty. You won't win any races with it, but it's more than enough power for an around town or commuter car.

3. Nope, I live in a suburb of the Minneapolis/St. Paul area |
|
I've had a couple of near-accidents with road-raging Hummer and SUV drivers coming up fast on me when merging into traffic in my Ford Taurus, though, and that car has 145 HP. Minnesota Nice seems to die out when you hit the freeways around here :-(

7. You're right about Minnsota Nice and the freeways |
|
ESPECIALLY 35W and 394!!!
I test drove a tc Scion, but it had a 160 horse 2.4ish engine and cost about 17 grand. It kicked butt!!! My gf likes the square one, but it didn't have much guts when you need it.
I'd buy a tc, but I'm not a fan of the other ones.
I have a 4.6 litre V6, so I like a bit of power. If I baby it, the gas mileage is fine, and if I need it, I can stand on it.

Well, in my defense I'm considering the xA, not the butt-ugly xB. I only included that because they share the same engine.

10. Get over to a dealer and do a test drive. You'll be impressed. It's not a |

sports car, like my miata, but it's been a fantastic ride for us. I'm selling mine, which is exactly a year old, for just $1500 less than I paid for it.. now THAT is holding it's VALUE.
