OMG - the neighbors kitty - - - |
|
now that I have your attention  --- katty corner from me are painting the trim on their house the most hideous color of emerald green. It's a Frank Lloyd Wrightish Austin stone house and this isn't going to work. A nice earth tone. perhaps... Guess I shouldn't gripe, my own place is about as inviting as a mud dabber's nest (Medieval Taupe), but I got a new job today :bounce: so I'll start saving for a new exterior do. My Inner Preppy is thinking strawberry and lime :P

1. It's a cross we bear for not living in planned gated communities |
|
I know what you mean, the neighbors across from me put up the most hideous holiday decorations and they are the first thing I see when I look out the window. I try to remind myself (sigh) that I am living in a vibrant city environment & isn't self-expression grand? x(

Isn't this the one month there isn't a theme? Or are they rushing Christmas?

4. LOL! They seem to celebrate the very existence of kitschy decorations |
|
I probably was having a flashback to the appalling lifesize wooden soldiers they had tacked to their porch at Christmastime. I shouldn't have narrowed it down to holidays. You're familiar with yard gnomes, and little whirly things you stick into the garden, and things that have cute sayings on them? That's the nabes.

9. Sounds like my dream yard, but... |
|
I'd make sure it was my backyard. Well, the lifesize wooden soldiers thing wouldn't be happening with me. I just like the little garden gnomes and the little whirly things. You'd like it the way I'd do it if I could landscape and decorate my yard. You probably wouldn't even see the gnomes or the whirly things or the multicolored "globes" that look like the ball shaped bubble gum. I wouldn't put hundreds up like some people do. There is a way to do it tastefully. Also, I'd add a small molded pond and a few frog figurines to keep my houseguest toads comfy. And a small windmill with running water. I'm just dreaming here, but yes, I have that sort of trashy taste in garden and yard decorations. I just wouldn't put any of it in the front yard except maybe a little area for petunias.

5. Don't want to live in a gated |

planned community again. All made out of ticky-tackly, all look just alike. My neighborhood is a good XMas area, carriage rides and all. Except the last time I looked, the folks down the street hadn't taken down the wreaths from their windows.
