1. When you subscribe .... |
|
you get alerted to updates and patches. And when a new virus strikes, they usually have a fix for it quickly.

3. I don't use any but that's ..... |
|
because I "Duel boot" the same operating systems on 2 of my partitions. (I have XP Pro on C: and D:)
I've never had a Virus but if I ever do, I'll just boot up on the other drive & go to some site that has the Virus Removal tool (or whatever) and fix it. (I also keep a spare drive with a Mirror image of my main one)
Those who know me here also know I fix and configure Computers and also know my opinions of Norton and such are not very high.
Maybe it's been only MY personal experience but a lot of Virus programs cause more hassle than the actual virus itself.
On the other hand, a lot of techs swear by them...

5. AVG Anti-virus. Powerful, effective and FREE |
|
www.grisoft.com
I cannot recommend their product highly enough. It's easy to use and update, and doesn't cost a dime for the regular version. It blocks virii, worms and trojans, and does it well.
I've used McAfee and Norton before, but you can get the same thing without so much of the overhead that comes with the bigger commercial packages. I've also had situations where they didn't block worms that they were supposed to block.
AVG does the same thing the others do, but for free. It's a good way to save your $$ (and send it to your favorite Democratic candidate instead?). ;-)

Stay away from them at all costs. I recommend you using an AV product especially if you use MS Windows. However, it is my experience that Norton AV is the best commercial package out there.
