When you were younger, did you ever watch documentaries of things |
|
like mountain climbing.... exploring crevasses in glaciers, or something similar?
Now, as you were watching them, listening the the leader explain how hard everything was to do, and how brave he and the few other people the film were, did you ever think: "Bullshit! The cameraman is doing everything you're doing, while carrying a huge camera and battery, and getting into weird places, just to get a shot that makes you look good!"?
Just wondering, that's all.

Yes, that crossed my mind when I was a kid. It also crossed my mind that Jim, the sidekick to Marlin Perkins on "Marlin Perkins' Wild Kingdom," was the one taking all the risks. Something along the lines of whispering, "We'll watch quietly as Jim creeps stealthily through the bush to perform a colonoscopy on this vicious and unsedated lion, while I have a refreshing Margarita here in the Jeep."

Good thing you put it that way. I've always wondered about it too.

2. I also was an early skeptic of "Fake Drama" |
|
Figured out early that if the exploration team ended up being eaten by Polar Bears we wouldn't be seeing the film in 5th grade.
