Coffee facts for all those coffee eaters out there |
|
Coffee facts for all those coffee eaters out there 1) Americans drink about 400 million cups of coffee per day---or 146 billion cups every year
2) Coffee has no nutritional value
3) Legend has it that coffee was discovered over 1,000 years ago, when an Abtssian goatherder noticed his prancing on their hind legs after sampling the fruit of a wild coffee tree. He tried the raw berries himself and began dancing wildly.
4) Four out of five adults in the US drink coffee. They put away an average of two cups a day, which adds up to about a third of the world's supply.
5) The coffee tree is really an evergreen shrub. It grows about 25 feet high.
6) Per capita, Finns drink the most coffee in the world
7) Tea was the most popular drink in the Colonies until 1773 when King George III levied a tax on it. After the Boston Tea Party, coffee became the drink of preference, and much of the Revolution was planned in the patriots' favorite new type of meeting place---the coffee house.
8) Over 10,000 different studies have analyzed the medical effects of caffeine---and there are still no conclusive results.
9) Caffeine is tasteless
10) An average cup of coffee contains 100 milligrams of caffeine; a cup of espresso has 200.

7 eleven 24 oz cup of Columbian coffee in the morn, and then another 16 oz about 3:30 in the afternoon. Worth the tooth whitening routine.

I have heard coffee contains at least one of the B-vitamins, and Edgar Cayce said of it, while in trance, that coffee in moderation is considered a food.
MODERATION would be the key here, though, I generally have five cups a day on a weekday, and I think a bit less on a weekend.
(I guess since I'm half a Finn, I AM using moderation!)

I've generally switched to espresso for the morning pick-me-up, then iced white or green tea for the day, then maybe another cup of espresso as a nightcap after dinner; it's well-rounded:)
