Oo, re-discovered a cool tune
I'm a man by The Spencer Davis Group.

You re-discovered anything?

1. Dean Martin
Send Me The Pillow That You Dream On -- It was my Dad's favourite song, so whenever I miss him I play it over and over.

2. Yes...I rediscovered Dino in 1993...
Still listen to him all of the time. I adored him.

He also reminds me of my dad. Dad and I would sit in the recliner together when I was just a little tadpole and watch the Dean Martin Show--remember how he would sing with "the Gold Diggers"...LOL!

And when the show ended, he would sing "Everybody loves somebody sometime." Even as a 4-yr.-old, that song made me cry.

Yes, Dean had class--my favorite from that era.

3. Dino rules!
"You're Nobody Till Somebody Loves You" is one of my faves. You can really tell how the Mills Brothers were an early influence for him.

5. A few years ago, one of the other DJs at my college radio station...
...asked me to fill in for him on his show, "The Psychedelic Revue." I agreed to do so and brought with me an armload of LPs I had bought at tag sales and thrift stores during my teens and early 20s. These were albums that, for the most part, I hadn't listened to in at lest a decade.

As I sat in the air studio that night, spinning one late '60s psychedelic chestnut after another, I found that I was enjoying myself beyond words and that I had forgotten just how damned good some of that music was.

When I first became a hardcore fan of '60s soul music (circa 1989), I pretty much immersed myself in that stuff to the exclusion of all other music from the '60s. Consequently, while my appreciation of James Brown, the Impressions, Motown, Stax, etc, grew exponentially, my appreciation of Jimi Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane, the Band, and even the Beatles stagnated. The next day, I went out and purchased both of Rhino's "Nuggets" boxed sets, which I give my highest recommendation!

Finally, HEyHEY was absolutely right about the Spencer Davis Group's "I'm A Man." That song totally kicks ass! :yourock:
