But when I do, it's open-faced and with just a modest amount. I grew up in the Chicago area.

I usually prefer whitefish salad . .. ;)
That being said, I have recently converted to the open-face style, if I get a choice. I just got tired of things getting sqeezed out and falling in my lap.
I grew up in Brooklyn, NY & Houston TX; spent five years in NC, and then the last eight in Virginia and the DC area.
Now I'm in MD, where there is no decent bagel place that i can find. . . Bagel City in Rockville is OK, but nothing like Murray's in Bala Cynwd, PA (outside Philly). :evilfrown:

moved to LA in early 20's. Never looked back, much to my relatives chagrin...now they worry I'm just another brainwashed liberal entertainer. I prefer to think of it as an escape to sanity, but whatever. However, my bagel eating ways have always been the same: open faced, lots of lox. Yum.
