2. Have had a Tivo for some time now |
|
It's not the series 2, but it's still very cool. I really recommend it. I hardly even note when shows are scheduled anymore since all my favorites are automatically recorded. I watch it when I have the time or desire.
If you are watching a show 'live' you can't skip commercials. You can only skip if you are watching something that has already been recorded. You can do some interesting things though. For example, if West Wing started at 8, you could start watching it at 8:30. It will continue to record the last half of the show while you watch the first half. You can skip ahead (or over commercials) until you catch up with the broadcast. Hope that makes sense.
In any case, DVR's are very cool and once you have one, you'll never want to go back.

and rewind. Especially when I am watching CNN or a news show and something scrolls across the bottom of the screen and I miss the first part.

5. Yes--it is as good as you've heard. I love mine! |
|
We've had it for about 2 and 1/2 years. Yes, you can skip commercials.
I swear, if something happened to my Tivo, I'd go out and immediately get a new one. It allows me to be selective about what I watch on TV effortlessly.
You won't be sorry for getting one, xultar.

excited cuz they now have that whole Tivo2Go thing. http://www.tivo.com/4.9.19.asp where you can transfer files to your pc and from there to your mobile devices. So I can take my shows on my PocketPC.

18. We have yet to be able to to get the PC function to work. I can't recall |
|
what the trouble was. I think that Tivo wouldn't recognize a password or something and so the stuff was encoded and unviewable. Not sure. Will check with hubby
Hopefully you will not have this problem

I watch everything after it has been recorded or wait till 20 minutes after the show starts so I can skip through the commercials(as pointed out further up-thread).

I Tivo everything I like and watch it when I have time. Yes, you can skip the commercials by fast forwarding through them. It is great. If there is a show you like, you can set it to tape it every time it is on so you don't have to remember to tape like on a VCR.

I dont' know about skipping recording commercials, but you can certainly FF through them. Whatever you record, it takes a lot less time to watch. :woohoo:
I have mine set to record Buffy the Vampire Slayer, TDS, Globetrekker, Sensible Chic, and Bewitched.
I had to turn off the autorecord suggestions. It mostly got my tastes right, but it was simply recording too much stuff for me to watch.
