|
I thought I'd always get animated shows (mom almost had a job with Disney, so it's in the blood).
But I don't get SBSP AT ALL! What am I missing????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

3. You mean "DoleBob DropPants" |
|
...which would be a fine screen name, as I think about it. ;)

Yet my little sister LOVES Sponge Bob. Oh well, she's only 56 years old. She'll outgrow it.

About the only shows I don't like are Smurf type shows. I'm a BIG Powerpuff fan. But all I see on Square is annoying characters. I know a lot of people love it, and I'm happy for that. I NEVER tell people that they're lesser for liking shows I don't like...but...
PLEASE! There must be a "key" to getting the show?

9. SBSP meaning is simple. |
|
He is Bush's nice twin. Think of the way Will Ferrell portrayed Dubya on SNL.

10. I'm older, and I enjoy it. |

29, specifically. I suppose the fact that I teach kindergarten and middle school helps. I see Spongebob as kind of a Bugs Bunny for this generation. Lots of stupid jokes, but if you look through that, there's lots of obscure references and clever jokes that only adults will get, just like the old Looney Tunes stuff.

11. It's a socialization issue |
|
Most of the characters are extremely poor socializers. Hilarity results.
You had to be there.

12. I'm 37 and I love SBSPants |
|
It's very surreal and the characters are freakishly intense. The animators also have a very nice sense of comic timing - very absurd.

I'm missing the absurd?
OK...you all have made me swear something....
Next week, I'll watch an hour of SB each day. If, after a week, I don't get it, well, I guess I'll just drill a hole in my head.

14. Think of the psychological types |
|
Spongebob is ridiculously extroverted and keeps trying to drag his ludicrously introverted next door neighbour into situations that make him uncomfortable.

17. The action and the characters are absurd |
|
the characters interests and obsessions, that is. They are MANY. I could cite examples; but they would be empty without the visuals.

16. I'm with you, I don't really get him either. |

But my nieces squeal and giggle over him the way that I used to squeal and giggle over Wiley Coyote and the Roadrunner.
