Tyson quits after 6th, calls it a career
Ex-champ laments: ‘I don’t have the stomach for this anymore’

"Referee Joe Cortez counts toward Mike Tyson after Ireland's Kevin McBride pushed Tyson down in the sixth round of their heavyweight bout on Saturday. Tyson did not come out for the seventh round, giving McBride a TKO."

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8185687/

WASHINGTON - Mike Tyson’s career apparently ended in yet another shocker Saturday night when he quit on the stool after taking a beating in a foul-filled sixth round against unheralded Kevin McBride.

Tyson lost for the third time in his last four fights, and once again he faded badly as the rounds went on before deliberately head butting McBride in a desperate attempt to end the fight in the sixth round.

“I don’t have the stomach for this anymore,” Tyson said. “I most likely won’t fight anymore. I’m not going to disrespect the sport by losing to this caliber of fighters.”

Tyson was out of gas when he was pushed to the canvas as the sixth round ended, his head stuck between the first and second ropes. He stayed there for several seconds before finally untangling himself from the ropes and wobbling back to his corner.

2. Tyson always was a loser.
Now he's joined the ranks of other washed-up boxers.

You mean boxers that can beat you without head butts and ear chomps? Boxers who aren't rapist thugs?

Good riddance.

5. Mike, you disrespected the sport enough
when you bit Evander Holyfield's ear off. That was one of the lowest moments in professional sports history

6. "losing to this caliber of fighters"
Way to lose gracefully. You got beat, you're washed up, please go away.

7. What happened to Mike?
He forgot how to hit people. Real fighters just get better at that, even after they retire.

The finest punch thrower I have ever seen is 75. His name is William Duessel. Google the name. He can hurt you in so many ways.

The only place that Tyson is over the hill is in his mind.

8. Isn't he doing this stunt to stay out of bankruptcy?
I thought I heard he needed to make several fights before he'd be treading water financially again. Then again, I was in the other room when the news story was playing.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot: I can't stand Tyson.

9. I don't know what to say.
I am not that surprised. Tyson was a great fighter when he was young. That rape conviction was the end of him. He was getting bad advice when he was young. People took advantage of him. He married Givens. That was the beginning of the end. The rape conviction was the next crack. It's sad on some level. He could have been truly great, but instead he is just an average fighter over the course of his career.
