I've got to find a job ASAP.
I've been laid off from contract jobs 3 times in the last year. Worked only 4 months out of the last 10 so that means I have only a couple more weeks of unemployment compensation left and then I will have no income at all.

I'm scared. :scared:

3. look for U.S. government jobs here
http://www.usajobs.opm.gov/

Mrs. V. works for the federal government. Can you relocate? Tons of jobs in the DC area. If not, you may find something in your area by searching at that link.

It's the best I can offer you, undeterred. Good luck and stick around here for support.

4. I'm in the same boat, my friend.
I'm scared too.

I'm also waiting until the last possible moment because I will not live homeless or destitute. It is a race against time.

At least you got unemployment. Despite having to leave through no fault of my own, I did not qualify.

Happy 'culture of life' day.

6. I thought you were, from reading your posts
You're at a higher level of employment than I am I think. But that in itself scares me. More skills don't help. Well, I hope we both find some security soon. I am afraid of becoming homeless too.

8. Social workers I know of have said IT is starting to make a comeback...
There is hope remaining.

But if the economy collapses, it'll be all for naught. If we weren't dog-eat-dog before... :scared:

5. Leave or not leave
Many in tech areas are finding high paying positions out of the country where many companies are short and need people who can train others too.
Might be a good way to get out and be able to establish home and family in a safe place for the next few years!

10. Nowhere will be safe if the neocons keep up their pace.
In the short term, maybe just maybe the civilized countries have a chance. But as the oil supply becomes a problem, as does natural gas.

Let's face it, very FEW of us will reach the age of 65. (so the neocons can blather all they want about raising the social security age. It makes no difference to me; the government has effectively stolen/extorted my money as I've been forced to give money to them out of my paychecks on a regular basis, only to get it back if I'm lucky enough to reach age 65.

Our society isn't just not a society, it's a convoluted cacophony of an ambivalent dichotomy. Ran by oligarchic plutocrats.

11. I'm a computer programmer, and, as you know, it's happening everywhere.

I wish that I could help you in some way. It is my biggest fear, although so far I've been spared.

I ask that the Universe guide you in the direction that you need to go to put you in a secure position with a wonderful company that appreciates you as a person and also appreciates your work. (This or something better for the highest good of all involved.)
