1. Hey, Hawkeye
What are you studying? I'm a poor student, too. And seeing as how I'm majoring in English, I'll probably be a poor graduate, also.

3. Hey Droopy.....I majored in Philosophy and I did OK.
Started an English degree but hated the course, dropped out and went back to do Philosophy the next year.

In the UK many major blue-chip companies accept graduates from any subject onto their Graduate Training Schemes. I got onto an IT Grad Training Scheme with a major financial company and most of my fellow trainees didn't have IT qualifications.

UK companies are more interested in your ability to learn, the standard of your education (+ maybe the standard of your University) and your people skills, than in which degree you took.

Needless to say, you can't be an MD with an arts degree, but it doesn't limit you that much. Many companies prefer a more well-rounded individual...after all, would you rather work with someone who always dreamed of being a Business Systems Analyst and trained as one, or a guy who took an arts course? I know who I find more interesting...

Good luck.

P.

4. Thanks for the info, Pert
Yeah, I just switched from psychology to English. I was looking at four years of graduate school to do anything in that field and I'm going on loans so you can imagine the bills. I like to read and write and I figure why not go with the four year degree in something I like instead being in so much debt when I get out. I can always find some way to make a buck even if it's not in my field of study.
