What is this Freeper talking about? |
|
Are the fundies just making up Bible quotes now?
To: USAfearsnobody The real problem with everything on this planet is man's fallen, sinful nature. Before the flood, a canopy of water encircled the Earth, giving us a green house effect. It also protected us from solar winds, and the harmful rays of the sun. This is why we have famine and floods, hurricanes and tornadoes. The sun is THE weather maker. That is why John saw a "new Heaven and Earth, with no more sea. The water will be put back where it belongs, in orbit around the Earth. All permanent solutions to all of man's problems can only be found in Christ and His eternal Kingdom. All man has in his cursed state is a band aid approach, which only covers up the problem, but never cures it.

Ten years of Catechism, three years of Episcopalean schooling, and six years of memorizing the Bible, followed by an academic path of studying history with an emphasis on religion, and I've never heard this.
Maybe this guy is a level four Thetan, or whatever the equivalent is in his cult. This is some secret knowledge kept from the masses--probably because it's so stupid it would immediately destroy the credibility of anyone who said it.
It's not in the Bible. It may be one of those theories based on the belief that it never rained until Noah's flood. Or maybe dude is a troll trying to make them look like idiots? Nah, that wouldn't take such creativity, they look like idiots all the time.

8. Yes, they do make it up |

According to the majority of fundies, it never rained before the Noachan 'flood'. All water not in oceans, rivers or lakes was contained in a vapor canopy and this is where the water came from for the flood. (Don't bother asking them where the other 2 hydrospheres worth came from, they don't know)
When you ask how they know it never rained before Noah and his boat, they'll tell you it's because the bible never said anything about it raining. That's how they know there was a vapor canopy.

...just as we often do, but with the only tools he has: pseudo-biblical rants that project an absolute morality onto his little universe. Trouble is, no one can be sure exactly what each word means as he's using it, and therefore his post is meaningless.

Cheney's not sure whether this idea is "Scriptural" or not, but he's looking into the viability of the orbiting water supply, totally under corporate control.

How did like PLANTS grow? Miracle juice? The tears of the unborn baby Jesus?
And if God wanted everyone dead, why bother with a flood and an ark? Why not just vaporize them, or have them devoured by flesh-eating bacteria? And God killed all the little babies? And the unborn feti? And the brain-dead women on feeding tubes?
Cinderella doesn't have as many plot holes as the Bible.

I agree. For that matter, if "God" is omnipotent and all powerful, why does he need to send his "son" (or himself depending on which version you listen to), to earn his own forgiveness? I mean . . . if he's all powerful, couldn't he just say "poof! You're forgiven?"

(5) And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.
(6) But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.

Sweet... like the sprinklers on corporate lawns at night? Or just fog, or dew, or wet naps?
That does it... I'm conviced. The Bible is true because the Bible says it's true! Hallelujah!

So how did humans drink? Did they drink?
And, yeah, somebody would have to be in orbit... at least to write that piece of science fiction...

No wonder when you try to have an intelligent conversation with these people it is always so frustrating. They actually believe in fairy tales, and have a limited rational thought process. If one is intellectually lazy and not curious about the dimension in which our physical universe is manifested, I suppose it is easier just to believe stories told by ancient nomadic sheepherders.
