A Little Techie Tip for IE Users: Changing Font Sizes
This tip is for those IE users who would like to set a larger font size on web pages ...

DU gives you a choice of using a larger font in your preferences settings but what if you want even larger fonts than those provided ...

The first step you can try, on any webpage, is to select your "View" menu and then select "Text Size" ... choose from the range of options presented ... you might want to try either "larger" or "largest" ...

On some sites, that's all you need to do ... fonts that would have blinded even the most robust yaks may suddenly become legible ... but this little trick is often not enough to see any change at all ... if you try this on DU, voila !!! ... nothing will happen ... the reason for this is that many web sites specify a font size and the setting you just changed has no effect on it unless ...

You take the next step ... on the "tools" menu, choose "internet options" ... and then click the button that says "accessibility" ... check the box that says "ignore font sizes specified on web pages" and then click "OK" ... and then click "OK" again ... by setting the "accessibility option", the changes you made on the "view" menu now take effect ...

One caution, this can really make for some bad looking web pages ... i frequently toggle the accessibility switch on and off depending on what I'm doing on the web ... still, it's nice to know you have control over font sizes when you want to ...
