Midnight Poetry Thread
Edited on Fri Oct-31-03 11:08 PM by listenup
Is there a difference between them
and a soft place that wants
to talk?
Softness has its moments but
softness walks
much too easily
and I don't know.

Should I care about the rock
I'm between a rock
or the soft place that
speaks to me
in moments
I don't know.
Tomorrow?

I can see that tomorrow
has a hard place reserved
for me
I can see
but the softness in my heart
gives in easily
and tomorrow is a
warm place
that my heart can live in
saving face
it speaks to me
in all moments
I know
tomorrow
Is for me.
Tomorrow is for us
I can see the softness
becoming strong
in a warm place
that my heart can breathe in
I know

Your turn

2. Made me think of this one, from my kit bag (not sure why):
PREMONITION

Bends and breaking leave one twisted,
Leave another curved,
Arced into beauty, Bonsai, listed
Into light, steel-nerved
For each next moment, listening
With each inch of life,
Trembling on glistening
Moment, silver knife
of backbone, oh... so... ready.

3. I've never contributed to a midnight poetry thread so
tell me, is it 100% serious? Is humorous verse appropriate? I don't want to hijack a serious thread about poetry if it isn't appropriate.

4. My 2 cents
Ain't worth a damn around here
Guess I'll just hang out
and drink some more beer
that's what it's all about

Because I'm just killing time
and it doesn't matter to me
if you speak without rhyme
it's all plain to see

We're all just hanging out
wishing for a better world
wishing there was no doubt
waiting for the word

That will say all is well
you can rise up
out of your living hell
and drink from the cup

That will release your soul
release you from the anguish
that's punishing your soul
life free of punish

So now I'll let you go
I'm here if you need me
don't let the sadness show
remember to be free

5. Cali's first rain (reign)...
The very last thing...
I did last night, the very first thing
this morning.

Was to stave the day
to find a way...
to keep the storm from forming.

From on a wood pile
with first rain stains....
a wise owl
lifts to space.

As he heads up
to find the sun...
there's gloomy in it's place.

:-(
