Poll question: DU Men: Gimme A Head With ... A Demographic Poll. |
|
'Kay, I'm just curious. Gentlemen, how long is yer hair?
Me, my freak flag has been flying for decades, now.
I'm defining "long" as shoulder length or longer. Here baby, there, mama, everywhere, daddy daddy.
Yes, I know the demographic age breakdown is very arbitrary. And I wanted to include a selection for "I'm bald and not by choice, and I'm not telling you how old I am, either, you bastard" but I ran out of options.

Can't let it fly in the breeze and get caught in the trees, but it's easier to maintain than a comb-over.

hair just above the shoulder, i grow it out to just past the shoulders and then cut it off, start over for another year and a half... so even though its not currently 'long' by your standards, yea i voted long.

4. Again, yeah, the choices are limited. |

What I really wanted was another choice for shorter than an inch, which seems to be the standard style for twentysomething and younger males, at least around here. What we used to call a shaved head is now the standard cut. Which is part of what made me curious about the demographics.
Judging by what I've seen, you've got long hair for your age group, for sure.

10. Thanks. You're going to make.... |
|
...me  .
I've learned that the key to long hair, is having a good conditioner and detangler! Oh, and comb from the bottom half first! It helps with the split ends...

When my hair's wet, I comb (never brush when my hair is wet) through the bottom half, underside because that's where it's the most curly. And I rarely, rarely, rarely, blow-dry my hair. (I think this "special care" routine is why my mom kept my hair short when I was kid. :eyes:)

12. I'm assuming you mean its grows down from your head... |
|
and not...
oh, never mind.
Anyway, mine used to be almost that long, but my wife put her foot down. Right now it's probably 1/3 of the way down my back, about shoulder blade length, which is about as long as she lets it go these days.
Respectable hippie hair but not too crazy.

7. 40, and military-short |
|
I tried growing it long after my days in the Air Force, but I was apalled when I looked in the mirror and saw poor, white trash staring back at me, so it's been a short taper-cut ever since.

8. my hair is not shoulder length, but it is usually considered long |
|
getting a haircut is a surreal experience for me when done professionally. I think I get it cut short, yet after I am done, the girl cutting my hair still has shorter hair than I do. Plus while I am there a guy comes in to get his hair cut and his hair when he comes in is way shorter than mine is when I leave.
Ross Perot and G.W. Bush have nothing on me when it comes to Dumbo ears, so a fifties hairstyle is not an option. I had a "professional" expose my ears once during college, and I actually saw the entire cafeteria turn to look at me, like the person sitting across from them said "omigod look at that haircut". I shoulda taken a bow or something, maybe autographed some 8x10 glossies.
