1. None of the above
I get my jeans mail-order from Penney's, Levis 501s, and shirts I get at thrift stores.

2. None of the above
Most of mine (especially the dress clothes) now are from Macy's. I have a few things from Land's End, and quite a bit of stuff left over from Today's Man (out of business now). Also Men's Wearhouse.

But here in NYC, Macy's is really the best bet for really good, but at least reasonably priced, stuff, and they have many sales (especially for underwear, socks, and suits).

I'm still in the ARNG and have my ID card.
The PX and BX are duty-free.

8. Just about anywhere
except for my suits and dress shirts. I developed a tase for bespoke tailored suits. It's worth the duty every time I go to the UK.

I use Sedwell.

Casuals and sport usually at a local better menswear store. But then, I must because of my business. The dress is expected.

I have shopped at Macy's, Dillard's, and May Co. stores while traveling, but Nieman Marcus seems to be the best department store for me.

9. Mostly
I get them at the Salvation Army. I get good quality clothes like Liz Claiborne, Talbots, Pendleton etc. for a few bucks and I love the challenge of it all. :-) I started shopping second hand stores when I was in high school and that was all I could afford, I could afford to buy everything new now but I like the thrill of finding "diamonds" at a bargin price. :bounce:

10. Good Will
It's a thrift store where people dump their old stuff. There is a Goodwill in Augusta where I can always find some great outfits. A little altering.... and wahlah...I'm ready for a day in the Maine House of Representatives. I love my Singer. We're buddies. :-) Augusta Good Will is great too.

12. As a sidenote....
I must admit that though Goodwill has stores in some of the closer towns (There is even one only 27 miles away!) They aren't as good cause people around here only discard stuff worse then my own clothes. Augusta is great cause lobbiests live there and I can alter the stuff to fit me perfectly. :-)

14. That's the problem with the Yankee ethic
Use it up, wear it out before we can discard it! My favorite is Marden's. Some of my best sweaters have come from there.

15. Mardens is great!!!
It's just about the only place I'll by something new because the bargains are so good. I got a dress for our new Governor's Inaugaral Ball for only 9 dollars... Marked down from 600-something!!! I altered it a little, added long black gloves and had compliments all night. :-)

11. How is Target?
I've recently switched from Old Navy to JCPenney (Cheaper and better-made stuff), but there are Targets opening up in my hometown and possible around here, so... how is it? Price-wise and quality-wise?

30. The shirts I get are of great quality...
The khakis cost $17.99 (unless they're on sale for $14.99 or less, which is when I stock up on them) - but they wear out after a year or so.

Filene's and Macy's when they have sales.

Exercise clothes in Target.

Loehmann's....Off 5th... Neiman Marcus Last Call....sigh...not to mention the actual outlet stores...

I do still adore the thrift stores...there's some great stuff there, too.

Between those and ebay, I doubt I"ll ever buy clothes at retail price again!

18. two chains get most of my clothing biz
Lane Bryant and The Avenue. My sisters and I, all women of size, buy our clothes at what we lovingly call "The Fat Lady Stores."

There, they have only three sizes: Jumbo, Huge, and Oh-My-God-It's-Coming-Toward-Us.

27. My wife also does the fat lady stores
and that's precisely why I prefer to have my suits I need tailored specifically for me. Try finding a 50 portly suit these days.

FAT'S WHERE IT'S AT! POWER TO THE PLUMP!

Excuse me for now, I hear a chicken leg calling my name.

19. Thrift stores
and consignment shops. Though thrift stores are cheaper. You have to go frequently and sift through stuff to find something. I usually buy casual, everyday wear. The clothes are in great condition, and I pay a fraction of the cost the original buyer did in the upscale dept store. I wear a lot of silk and find all my silk blouses in thrift stores. Now, a silk blouse at Hecht's can run you $40. At the thrift store, I usually pay $3-4, tops. I can usually spend $20-30 at a thrift store and get several outfits doing this. You should see the designer stuff I find!

Of the stores you listed, I visit them all. Just depends on who has what I want. I'm willing to invest good $ in something I'm going to wear for years. Presently, I'm looking for a pinstripe suit. Haven't found one yet, though.

22. 2nd this. Great for buyers, not so great for sellers, LOL.
I mean, picking up a new Ralph Lauren shirt for three, four dollars? How awesome is that!

Though, if you're selling clothes on ebay (as I have), that sucks though--that same RL shirt could have cost you 30, 40 bucks. Oy.

24. used clothing stores
it's ludicrous to pay the prices they ask in those stores that sell by "status"... Thrift stores, Rescue Mission, etc. have great stuff at excellent prices.

I thought only Republicans shop at Neiman Marcus and Bloomies and Saks 5th etc..

26. I buy clothes mostly at thrift shops
I do not buy much new clothing. About the only things I buy new are shoes, underwear, socks, lingerie, and swimwear. I do buy some new stuff for my children, but that is mostly school uniforms, as well as shoes, socks and underwear.

I can afford clothes if I shop there. I can usually find some really nice things, and you can't beat $2.50 for a sweater and $5.00 for jeans.

31. goodwill/salvation army etc.
As a petite person I can easily find unworn, new, and stylish clothing at these stores. I'm not sure why but I think women buy (or are given) clothes that are too small and then get disgusted and throw them out. Works for me. I dislike supporting the cotton industry; I feel it is one of the worst polluters of groundwater. And, of course, these days, buying new clothes is probably supporting slavery in China or something.
