Clark's haircut bothers me
I know it's a trivial point, but something about the man's appearance has been rubbing me the wrong way, and I finally figured out what it is. It's the haircut. The Giuliani-style comb-over with the low part...he should have one of those military buzz-cuts or something, given how lean he is. The haircut makes him look like an orchestra conductor or a post-Bauhaus architect or something. Like I said, trivial point.

7. It bothers me also but....
pick on the guy now. Let's talk about his sox, his pants, his nose, maybe the way he walks, is he boxers or briefs....

Bring out all the big and little things you can get your hands on. That takes away from the weapons that the RW can use when he gets the nomination.

8. Respectfully, you're overreacting.
Usually I post about serious things. This one time, I didn't. I'm not saying anything bad about Clark the man or the candidate. I just suddenly realized his haircut bothered me. No big deal. DU seemed like a place where I could make such an observation.

3. How about a Mohawk?
Please. You sound like the woman who couldn't bring herself to support Dean "because he is short."

So, what do you think of the color of Clark's eyes? Should Kerry fix his nose?

4. I don't see a problem with his hair.
I wear mine the same way. ;)

The only physical appearance problem with Clark is he kind of looks skeletal. He should gain some weight. ;)

5. you don't want him to look too much like a military man
so the buzzcut is out

Clark has no comb-over, he has no bald spot to hide.

17. Clark Is Thinning A Bit... That's All
He still has >75% hair coverage..... Not bad for a man in his late fifties....

No comb over.....

I think a modified fade would look cool... Clark kinda looks like the good looking older guy who jumps in the pool in the cholesterol drug commercial...

9. I love his hair.
I think he is absolutely gorgeous! I have a weakness for salt and pepper haired men. Don't know why, don't care to know why but, I do. I never noticed that it's a comb-over. Are you sure it is?

He has a great smile too. :7

19. Frankly, Clark is one hunky guy ...
Edited on Sat Nov-01-03 06:54 PM by Tracer
... but I'm not voting for him.

I vote on the candidates platform. Not his haircut, his height, his weight, his tie, his teeth, his smile, his suit lapels or any other ridiculous parameter.

And anyone who DOES vote on such shallow measurements is an idiot in my book.

20. Wait a minute -- I think I understand.
People who hang around at DU likely are fairly savvy and attentive, and will choose a candidate because of what he says, and what he's done, not how he looks. I would expect people who participate in a progressive discussion board to slap you around for saying this, and I'm sure you're not surprised this thread has some negative posts, AYM.

But there are people out there who care about superficial stuff, and they vote, too. You guys who are pissed at AYM for posting this should understand not everybody is as politically savvy as you. Some of them have their interest sparked in a candidate first by his appearance.

I live in semi-Freeperland, and you wouldn't believe how many women I've heard, when asked why on earth they'd ever vote for somebody like Bush*, say 'because he has such a nice smile.' He has a nice smile. He also thinks this country would be easier to run if it was a dictatorship, and he were the dictator, but he has a nice smile.

Yes, there are voters who are that superficial. I deal with them every lousy, stinking day of my life. I know.

21. Ease up on AYM
Think back to the story of Lincoln and his beard. Some cute little girl, 11 year old Grace Bedell, said in a letter to him that she could get her Dad and brothers to vote for him if he were to grow a beard.

text--
Hon A B Lincoln...

Dear Sir

My father has just home from the fair and brought home your picture and Mr. Hamlin's. I am a little girl only 11 years old, but want you should be President of the United States very much so I hope you wont think me very bold to write to such a great man as you are. Have you any little girls about as large as I am if so give them my love and tell her to write to me if you cannot answer this letter. I have got 4 brother's and part of them will vote for you any way and if you let your whiskers grow I will try and get the rest of them to vote for you you would look a great deal better for your face is so thin. All the ladies like whiskers and they would tease their husband's to vote for you and then you would be President. My father is going to vote for you and if I was a man I would vote for you to but I will try to get every one to vote for you that I can I think that rail fence around your picture makes it look very pretty I have got a little baby sister she is nine weeks old and is just as cunning as can be. When you direct your letter direct to Grace Bedell Westfield Chatauque County New York

I must not write any more answer this letter right off Good bye

Grace Bedell
http://members.aol.com/RVSNorton1/Lincoln50.html

Perhaps Angry Young Man can be our Grace Bedell? Send Clark a letter and tell him that you think he would look better with a different haircut - here are some choices, AYM:
a. a mohawk
b. straight and greasy look (like the kids are wearing)
c. crewcut
d. shave
e. other

Tell him that you would vote for him if he just had a different hairstyle. Wouldn't it be great?
Or, he could just say fuck off, vote for me for my platform...

A military buzz-cut would look a little too weird.

26. His haircut is typical
Typical of military lifers. My dad, a 20 year vet, has the exact same haircut. Really nothing good or bad about it.

Personally, I think Clark would look killer in some shoulder length dreads. Someone should photoship that, same hair color, just shoulder length dreads.
