Bomb-Sniffing Police Dog Bolts

A dog trained to detect explosives escaped yesterday from the Oxon Hill home of the D.C. police officer who is his handler, authorities said.

Officials said the dog, named Remi, apparently left the garage of the officer's house about 12:30 p.m.

The dog was described as a German shepherd with a black face and mixed coat. Anyone with information about the dog is asked to call D.C. police at 202-727-9099.

1. These dogs commonly have
a close bond with their officers. I can't imagine a happy animal running away.

4. It wasn't a "relationship" thing.
He wanted a career change. All his pals go around sniffing cocaine and he got stuck sticking his nose in explosives.

8. That happened here last year.
The pooch turned up 5 days later with a bitch in heat, a bit bedraggled, but perfectly fine and VERY happy! :P
