# What was the first car you ever owned (if you ever owned one) -- I've never owned one.
# Tastes Great or Less Filling - discuss -- Upon realizing this question is about beer: I don't drink beer.
# Who was the first person you ever met from DU (excluding family members you got to sign up) -- I haven't met anyone from DU yet.
# You have won your dream home - either a home in the country or a penthouse in the city of your choice - which would you choose -- Penthouse in the city. I've lived in the sticks way too long.
# What was your very first pet? -- Golden retriever named Springer (My four year old brother named him...I don't think it was named after Jerry.)

44. Me too
1) I think the two I find most valuable are Eschaton and Dailykos.

2) 7 1/2

3) I don't think I ever believed in Santa Claus.

4) My hair is inherently unmanageable, so there's no point in buying anything but the cheapest stuff.

5) Love it. I have several favorites: Stravinsky's Firebird Suite, Gershwin's Piano Concerto in F, Debussy's La Mer, Messiaen's Quartet for the End of Time, Edgard Varese's Ameriques, Charles Ives' 4th Symphony, Steve Reich's Music for 18 Musicians...

6) 1973 Volvo 145 station wagon, purchased in 1983 expecting it to last many years, died in a year and a half :-( (Then somebody else told me 1972 was the last really good year for Volvos.)

7) Yuck. Lightness is so not a virtue in beer. (I prefer ale anyway.)

8) Matcom!

9) Either a NYC penthouse or a spread in Marin County, depending whether I get to hang out and play with the other musicians around.

10) When I was about 6 we got saddled with a basset hound that my aunt could no longer take care of. I never related to that dog at all-- he was even a bigger grump than I was. After several uncompanionable years, he got hit by a car.

1) I read Salon.com, Commondreams.org, Rawstory.com, and IMBd.com (my guilty pleasure)

2) My shoe size: 7-1/2 or 8 depending on brand.

3) I was 7 or 8 when I found out about Santa... my older brothers let the cat out of the bag. :(

4) The only thing I really spend money on are hair care products. I'm a slave to my tresses. :(

5) I like classical music, but am not such an avid listener that I'd know specific pieces...

6) An '85 Honda Accord was the first car I ever owned.

7) The only reason to drink beer is for the taste - otherwise why bother? In my case... bring on the micro brews.

8) I have yet to meet a fellow DU'er in person.

9) I'd like a home in the country... but as to where I haven't decided. I'm still rambling.

10) My first pet was a black and white rabbit named Claire.

Other than DU, name 2 websites you read every single day

Boston.com for local weather and news and my job's website because I have to do some of my work on line

What is your shoe size?

9A

How old were you when you realized Santa Claus was not real - what made you realize he was fake

I never believed in him but I couldn't understand why adults lied and I thought if I admitted I knew the truth I'd stop getting gifts so I kept my mouth shut until I was seven and my mom admitted the truth to me. She later told me she only broke the news to me then because I wanted a Gem radio for Christmas but she was having trouble finding it, even though she later did.

Do you buy shampoo because it's makes your hair look great or because it was the cheapest stuff on sale

I buy it to make my hair look great but I'm not picky about my shampoo. However I do spend a small fortune on conditioner.

Do you like Classical Music and what is your favorite piece?

It's alright but I'm not into it. Bach is the only classical artists whose work I recognize and that's just because I ave an ex that studied music at Berkley and loved his stuff.

What was the first car you ever owned (if you ever owned one)

I've never owned one

Tastes Great or Less Filling - discuss

Tastes great. if I want less filling I'll drink water.

Who was the first person you ever met from DU (excluding family members you got to sign up)

johnnyred

You have won your dream home - either a home in the country or a penthouse in the city of your choice - which would you choose

A penthouse in the city. I'm too use to living in cities and being close to everything I need.

What was your very first pet?

A feral, at least before my parents adopted her, cat named Gem. They picked out the name before I saw the show so it's not related to the story above. My family use to always have cats until I was seven and we briefly moved to Sacramento. When we came back I couldn't be in the same room as one without sneezing and now it has only gotten worse.

56. My answers
Other than DU, name 2 websites you read every single day

Every day, I read at least one of the boards over at EZBoard. There are several there that I used to frequent more, but the latest influx of right wingnuts has kept me from enjoying them more. I also read Google news every day, and more often than not, go to the Weather Underground for forecasts.

What is your shoe size?

Female, Size 5 1/2 or 6.

How old were you when you realized Santa Claus was not real - what made you realize he was fake

I think I was about 10 or so, but I had to keep it to myself, since I had younger brothers and sister who still believed. It was fun, though having the secret before them for awhile.

Do you buy shampoo because it's makes your hair look great or because it was the cheapest stuff on sale

I use a wide variety of shampoos and conditioners, not just one brand. I buy according to scent in part, but also buy some prescription shampoo as well.

Do you like Classical Music and what is your favorite piece?

I love classical, and I guess my favorite piece is a short piece by Claude Debussy called "Reverie."

What was the first car you ever owned (if you ever owned one)

I inherited my uncle's 1979 Ford Granada. It was a boat. Great car, though--I loved it. I drove it cross country in 1987.

Tastes Great or Less Filling - discuss

I don't drink beer, but for most drinks, I prefer taste over calories anyday.

Who was the first person you ever met from DU (excluding family members you got to sign up)

A friend from another board who was a delegate at the DNC. But he wasn't an active DU poster anymore. I guess then, the gang at Clery's during that Tuesday of DNC week. There were lots there, and I think Skinner was the first one who introduced himself.

You have won your dream home - either a home in the country or a penthouse in the city of your choice - which would you choose

Both are equally appealing, since I love both settings. I think I would opt first for the penthouse, though, as long as it was in an active and vibrant city. Meaning, if it's NY, L.A., Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle or some other big city, that would be ideal. If it's a smaller city, it wouldn't be as fun or nice, in which case I would choose a quiet country home instead.

What was your very first pet?

When I was very young, we had a white cat. My brother and I used to be horrible to her, pulling her tail all the time and dragging her out from under the bed. I don't even recall her having a name. The first pet that was actually mine was Blazer, a small calico that I smuggled from my grandfather's farm in Cape Breton to home in Boston. Unfortunately, little Blazer (named for the "M" on her forehead) had distemper, and she died. The next cat, Blazer II, was a big ginger tomcat, who refused to move when we did, and ended up going back to the old neighborhood after twice jumping off the second floor porch. One of our former neighbors ended up taking him in.

60. Ok...
1. Other than DU, name 2 websites you read every single day

Probably no others in terms of every day. Once in awhile I even have a DU free day.

2. What is your shoe size?

Usually, 9. Sometimes 8 & 1/2.

3. How old were you when you realized Santa Claus was not real - what made you realize he was fake

I never remember believing in that. My mom apparently told me when I was three.

4. Do you buy shampoo because it's makes your hair look great or because it was the cheapest stuff on sale

Some combination of the two. Certain shampoos I won't buy because they seem to suck, but there's a variety in the midrange department that seem to be ok.

5. Do you like Classical Music and what is your favorite piece?

Sometimes, but usually not. I like Claude Debussy's pieces for the piano. Mozart isn't too shabby either.

6. What was the first car you ever owned (if you ever owned one)

1982 Oldsmobile Omega (yep, it sucked)

7. Tastes Great or Less Filling - discuss

Tastes great. :9

8. Who was the first person you ever met from DU (excluding family members you got to sign up)

9. You have won your dream home - either a home in the country or a penthouse in the city of your choice - which would you choose

2. 7 1/2 narrow.

3. About five. We lived in a trailer and we didn't have a chimney. Mom tried to tell me that Santa came through the front door but I didn't buy it.

4. I buy cheaper shampoo that still smells good. I like the VO5 "Naturals" line. The lavender smells the best.

5. I love classical music. I like Bach's Prelude and Fuge in E minor for the organ and any Baroque organ or guitar music. My mom is a church organist so I grew up listening to this stuff. Brandenburg Concertos rock too.

6. 1977 AMC Hornet station wagon. It hauled ass.

7. Tastes great. End of discussion.

8. Unfortunately I have never met anyone from DU. I will remedy that soon, I hope.

9. That's a tough one. I'd choose a cabin in the woods I guess. With internet access and HBO of course.

10. A black and white kitty (tuxedo) named Muffin. My muffy. I loved her so. She lived to be 13 years old. She died about 10 years ago.

3) Second grade. A bossy cow in my apartment complex spilled the beans.

5) I love Classical Music. It would be extremely difficult to pick a favorite, but I like Scheherazade by Rimsky-Korsakov and O Fortuna always gets me rockin'.

6) A White Ford Contour. Great car.

7) Wine over beer any day. The taste of most beer is like making love in a canoe.

What was your very first pet?

Toy poodle named Poco, gift from my parents.

88. My answers that no one will read anyhow.
1. hotmail, Lexis. Frequently, but not everyday: Supreme Court of Ohio decisions, wunderground (weather forecast), Yahoo news, Cloudynights (astronomy)

2. 10.5

3. Kindergarden teacher spilled the beans.

4. No. Because it keeps my head from itching. Aren't you glad you asked.

5. Yes. There's no favorite because it is not a competition. Beethoven's 5th piano concerto is very good.

6. 1971 Dodge Dart in 1985.

7. I don't discuss ad campaigns or drink crappy American "beer".

8. Huh? No one.

9. Country, definitely. Nothing to do in the city without being in a crowd, a lot of waiting and spending a bucket of cash.

10. My parents have subjected me to many domestic animals, but I never voluntarily had a pet until 1997 when I was 30. It was a rabbit and even then it was mostly for my wife.
