1. My husband threw his back out again yesterday
and has been lying down all day. He's way crooked when this happens, which is about once or twice a year. I've had to keep our four-year-old off him so he can recover.

2. Take it easy, but take it!
When my husband's back goes out, he finds it's good to walk around a bit here and there, not just lie down. Also boil towels in hot water and cover with another towel-- makes the shoulder area feel better. Massage is great too he goes to a Shiatsu person.

3. SCREW VIBES!!
Do this...
Trust me...

Go out to Walgreens right now and buy yourself a decent heating pad for $20 or so.

Come home, have a nice little dinner, and go to bed..

On your bed, fluff up one of your pillows, and place it in your bed where the center of your spine usually rests..

Plug the heating pad in and place it on top of the pillow..

Lay on it and try to relax..

I KNOW it can be uncomfortable at first with a huge HUMP under you, but eventually, your muscles will begin to relax...The heat will really help out in this manner (you may need to rotate the pad every now and then to keep the hot side facing up)

Once I spend 8+ hours in this position with warm heat penetrating an (unusually) stretched back, I feel MUCH better.

Give it a try.
If all else fails, save up $75.00 and get a one hour massage, followed by a complete back adjustment by a chiropractor next week ;)

4. 2 suggestions
1:sleep on the floor one nite (more if it helps) flat on your back, with pillows to keep you from rolling over. Your spine will stretch out and allow the discs to expand since they are being compressed by standing upright.

2: get some midol extra strength. Blue pills i recall. They shrink tissue, which if you are having a disc problem (you didn't say such, but many back issues revolve around the condition of the discs) it will help. I learned this from a fellow with similar problems like mine, and questioned the advice on midol, he was given the recomendation from a pharmicist. It's OTC, read the fine print on the package for further info, ie. in case you are also dealing with prostate conditions...?

good luck

6. Some Oxycotton would come in handy about now wouldn't it?
Should we call Rush and ask him if he still has his maids number so we can get you a few for the back pain.

Feel better back pain is not a joke. I bet you are afraid to sneeze or cough right now.

10. I hope you feel better soon! I'm sending out good vibes!
Speaking of vibes, have you tried one of those percussion back massagers? I tried one out in the store and it felt really nice. I don't know if it would aggrivate your condition or not though. Take care of yourself.

13. Deep sympathy - and try Pamprin...honest....
Any of the over the counter menstrual drugs are pretty good at dulling the pain of a backache, especially lower back...
my hubby finally believed me and tried it...
he swears by it now
