Not to be outdone by their Extreme3 razor, Schick brand now makes Quattro.

It features a whopping 4 blades.

Cost of the razor w/2 blades: $8.79

Cost of 4 replacement blade modules: $17.59

Compare to Extreme3:

Cost of razor w/2 blades (but for a limited time, comes w/4 blades): $5.79

Cost of 8 replacement blade modules: $11.29

Quattro there is rather expensive.

Who needs 4 blades?

Why?

Are they suicidal?!

And did it REALLY cost Schick THAT MUCH in development costs to make this product?

Is the extra blade worth it?

MadTV had a sketch a couple years back about the Spishack 20 blade razor. Seemed funny then. Seems funnier now that corporations are trying their best to do it for real.

Then consider this news (when they're not political, they're almost fair and balanced...) http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,98967,00.html Corporate America is freakin' crazy... still, if it leads to their own downfall then I don't care.

1. Tough beard here
and I can tell you- it DOES make a HUGE difference between a single or even a dual blade disposable razor and a triple or quad razor with a lubrication strip.

Shaving is actually painful if I use an electric razor; I simply have to use a multiblade disposable. Of course, both companies are making blatantly false statements regarding their products- the best a man can get is by using a straightrazor, but most guys don't have the balls to take a surgically sharp blade to the skin directly over the jugular :)

2. I thought Mach3 was a gimmick
until I tried the MF. Now I'm a mindless corporate consumer cybot who actually pays the $2 a blade.

3. There are certain places on my body
I would only use a minimum of 3 blades on. Might have to try that quatro thing next summer.

*blush*

4. I'm waiting for the Aleph-3 razor...
So many blades, we had to invent a new number for them all!

5. I remember on SNL
back in the good ol' days when they made fun of the triple-blade. Amazing.

At the end of the ad the announcer said if you fall for that you fall for anything.

6. Razors have quite a scam
My girlfriend has one of those Venus razors they market for women, and I noticed they take the same blades as my Gillette Sensor.

She pays more because hers are pink.

8. And I rembember those old cheap bics?
Yikes!!!

I saw that Quattro two weeks ago at Sam's. I thought, "just how far can this thing possibly go". FOUR blades? I immediately thought of that comedy bit with the 20 blade razor.

I use the Mach 3, and am fool enough to spend $2+ dollars per cartridge. It shaves very nice the first 3 or 4 times of use. But oh man - what a shave! Feels like a baby's bottom!

My GF uses a Venus. Total ripoff. She steals my Mach occasionally (expains the quick dulling, I guess).

Here's an idea: Cap the blade count. Focus instead on a blade that lasts more than 4 days.
