Have I said how much today I hate the record industry
I just saw 60 minutes and heard this bitch say "we all know how much damage internet downloading has hurt the music indutry". Hurt the Music Indutry? The Music Indutry has made BILLIONS of fucking money how in the hell has this damaged it? Hell I think it helped. Why you ask? Because all the bands I've downloaded I've went out and purchased thier cd's. I read the autobiography in "Metallica Garage Days" and said they were inspired by Motorhead. When I got a computer my younger brother showed how to download music and I downloaded Tool, Motorhead and Nick Drake. I liked what I heard and went out and bought their cd's. In some cases I had to order them because most stores don't keep Motorhead in stock. I hope someone enterveens and destroy's the Music Industry through internet downloading so we can have radio stations that play bands that arn't in the mainstream. Just a little rant.

Good Album:thumbsup:

1. How the hell has it hurt it

The music industry was just a big commercial heap of trash in the early 90s.

It destroyed itself.

Nobody wants to buy a record with 1 good song, 12 bad ones and by a artist that is forgotten the next week

3. Exactly
They don't know that they went to showy in the 90's and slit thier own throats. They should've just kept to signing new hot act's that play in the underground instead of signing sex objects.

"I'm a untalented whore now buy my album!"

"Fuck you I ain't buying your untalened shit storm you call music. If you want to make money with your mouth then you need to get on your knees."

2. No one else wants to say the obvious...
the online music revolution has caused a whole new industry to pop up: CD-R/CD-RWs, burners, MP3 players, data disks, programs, etc.
Honestly, I think Napster/Kazaa has done more good for the industry that people know. Right now, for the past 3 years, we've been in a recession. THE FIRST THING people are going to STOP buying are things like CDs- they're 20 bucks that could be used to help pay for food/gas. When the economy gets better, and people have more disposable income, then the music biz will see an increase of sales.
Also, it would help to actually, ahem, have some decent music (like Coldplay!). Coldplay's CDs are selling like hotcakes, and it's been 3 years...quality music makes people buy CDs.

4. I've done the same thing.

I stumbled on to a site for a punk band while looking for lyrics for an old union song. I listened to some stuff I down loaded and then spent more money than I am willing to disclose on 3 cds. I'm really glad I did too. Some random guy who was wandering around the dorm stopped in to say "OMG! This is great stuff! I love these guys! You rock!"

On Edit: If I'm going to give a shameless plug I should include the band shouldn't I?
Dropkick Murphys The song I was looking for is "Which side are you on?" on Sing Loud, Sing Proud.

5. I agree
Try finding Motorhead, Judas Priest or even Anthrax in your local Best Buy. Typically they will have one or two cds. I bitch at the blue shirts about it EVERY SINGLE time I go in. Stores like Borders or other book/multimedia stores sometimes have a little bit better selection, but they price every cd at 18 bucks.

Nothing good on the radio, nothing good in the stores... And the record industry wonders why they lose money???
