It's probably a good idea to wait for snow before going snowmobiling
A 24-year-old Green Bay man became an early fatality for the coming snowmobile season Sunday morning after the snowmobile he was riding on a snowless Marinette County road hit a tree.

The crash happened around 2:45 a.m. Sunday in the town of Porterfield. The man was heading north on Sandberg Road when he lost control of the snowmobile at the T intersection with Peters Road and hit a large tree, Smith said.

ÒHe couldnÕt stop,Ó Smith said, noting the machine had a high-powered engine. ÒIt was strictly speed.Ó
