I ate ostrich at the Blue Moon last night...
Our 15th anniversary is on Wednesday. We were going to make a weekend of it; but $ wouldn't allow it. So we left the kids with Grandma and headed for Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. It's a lovely little town inhabited by even lovelier people.

First we had lunch at the Dogfish Head brewpub, http://www.dogfish.com/ , accompanied by a pint each of Punkin Ale and Oyster Stout. Then we toddled around town doing some early Christmas shopping, watching surf, and finding "congratulations-on-making-it-through-15-years-with-relatively-mild-PTSD-to-show-for-it" gifts for each other (a Hawaiian shirt for Mr. GoG, and a decorative box for me).

Dinner at The Blue Moon is always an amazing experience, http://www.bluemoonrehoboth.com/menu.htm . It's expensive for our budget; but I think it's worth about twice what we paid. I'd never tried the marinated tenderloin of ostrich before. The texture was similar to beef; but the flavor was uniquely delicious. The Magic Hat #9 Ale that I had with it was kind of apricoty, and was a nice accompaniment to the mango BBQ marinade.

We concluded our day with a moonlight walk along the boardwalk on a beautiful Indian Summer evening... :-)

1. I've had ostrich before
it was at a farmer's market in South Carolina--there's alot of Ostrich and Emu farms down there.

It was made into a breakfast sausage, and it was incredibly tasty! In fact, tasted just like regular ol' Jimmy Dean sausage---health-wise, Ostrich/Emu is much less fatty than beef and other red meats.

i've also eaten buffalo, and that tasted just like beef, only spicer :)

2. We had to cook it at Culinary College
It looks like beef and it definitely doesn't taste like Chicken.

Have you tried Buffalo?

3. I had Buffalo once several years ago...
I can't recall how it was prepared; but I remember it being more tender than I expected, and delicious. :-)
