Orange alert
Does that mean Homeland Security is going to have another big taxpayer funded party in Hawaii? And some more big bonuses?

5. I was wrong! I admit it! I though the next alert wasn't going to be
until later this month or so when his popularity ratings would go down further.

You heard it here!

6. It's only for the transit systems in major cities.
http://edition.cnn.com/2005/US/07/07/us.response/

""The United States government is raising the threat level from code yellow, or elevated, to code orange, high, targeted only to the mass-transit portion of the transportation sector," Chertoff said. "I want to emphasize that: targeted only to the mass transit portion of the transportation sector.""

9. once again we AIN'T on orange alert, the country is broke
There is no general orange alert. There are orange alert precautions being taken for ground mass transit. Homeland Security has said clearly no general orange alert:

The heightened alert will apply to "regional and inner city passenger rail, subways and metropolitan bus systems," but not airlines, Homeland Defense Secretary Michael Chertoff said at a news conference.

The states simply can't afford any more orange alerts and informed the federal gov't some time ago that some states would likely drop out and not go along with the alerts if they were called.

The economy can't tolerate the extra security expenses required to maintain Orange Alert.

There is a hopefully more than token effort being made to beef up security at subways and other ground mass transit, as is only proper after an attack of this nature.
