Poll question: Who Is Gayer?
Edited on Mon Nov-03-03 11:26 PM by arwalden
Who is it... that when you hear their name... or see their face... the VERY FIRST THING you think of is "gay" or "lesbian"?

is that of my jaw dropping to the floor.

Christopher Lowell? MARRIED TO A WOMAN?

Good heavens, say it isn't so....

Now I am all too familiar with the gay "married" man, but Lowell's flame burns so very brightly that I simply can't imagine he would be the type to engage in such silly subterfuge.

My brain is hurting....

onscreen acquiantence with whom I uses to argue about Nathan. She swore Nathan was not gay, and invented some strange story about her sister dating him and how he HATED it when someone thought he was. She also said that he was very sensitive about his weight.

When he finally officially came out, she disappeared from sight, never to return. :)

Here's a theme for one of his decorating shows:

Tuesday at 10 a.m.— Over The Rainbow
Explore color and its power to transform the mood and style of our rooms.

Here's another:

Show #501 — Bodacious Bedrooms
We're exploring bedrooms with wake-up style!

Bodacious???

Show #529 — Marvey Mod
Explore the groovy retro style of the 1960s and 1970s

Marvey???

The Defense rests.

I think he's even dressed in drag (not pretty scene) in recent seasons.

Miss Lowell, though, is raking in the dough -- own furniture line, paint line, etc.

Does your Dave wear too much jewelry and dye his hair darker (even though it looks dyed and fake, and even though the natural grays would look better)?

41. It caught my eye because I know a gay guy named Billy Bean,
He was a friend in high school that a close friend of mine dated back then. If he realized he was gay back then, it was his secret; it was in later years that we found out he was gay.

Just had to be sure you weren't talking about him; he might have become famous in some way that I wasn't aware of. :-)

I saw it here when it played and found it very charming, and Sean very good in it.

Strange thing was, when he did press for our local paper, he was out. But when "W&G" hit he was suddenly ambigious. I thought that very strange, considering he had a paper trail out there for anyone to dig up.

Still, I would like to see him in something other than "W&G" soon.

Okay, I thought forever that he was gay, but I picked up a copy of the "straight" issue of OUT Magazine (gay-friendly straights, who played gay but wasn't, straights gays love, etc.) and was surpised to see him listed as one of those who everyone THOUGHT was "family" but was not.

I still don't really believe it but, you know, with those English boys my gadar is practically useless.

Mostly because I can be really, really clueless. Several years ago, I was talking to my friend at work, and he mentioned that John Waters was going to be on The Simpsons that Sunday. My friend then happend to mention the episode was gay-themed and I was completely surprised - I never thought of him in any way other than a filmmaker, and I'm someone who has seen all his movies.

Oh, I hope someday that story reaches him: I would love to know if he'd love it or kill himself :-)

Half the cast of The Women. Also, forgive me for not naming names, but I'm having a senior moment here and my ex never returned my copy of Hollywood Lesbians:

* That wonderful British actress who played the grumpy old aunt with a heart of gold in 3/4's of the classic black and white costume films.

* The tobacco-chewing ranch owner in The Women.

* If Alice in the Brady Bunch wasn't gay, she missed her calling.

Agnes Moorehead. Tullulah Bankhead. Marjorie Main. (Ma Kettle). Dietrich in The Blue Angel (and elsewhere).

75. She was always the ultimate spinster
Actually, she was from Massachusetts, I mistakenly thought she was English. She once played in an all women's orchestra. She got married and immediately announced that she and her husband were maintaining separate residences. The "marriage" apparently lasted two months although it took a while for them to actually do the paperwork. She died with her dear friend Virginia Hammond at her bedside.

She also played in Tale of Two Cities, David Copperfield, Pride and Prejudice, Drums Along the Mohawk and Romeo and Juliet.

A lesbian prototype.

53. I would have added Peter Paige from "Queer as Folk".
Peter Paige is very cute...and very gay.

But I voted for the fabulous Queer Duck.

62. Yes! I Really Like The "Emmett" Character from "Queer as Folk"...
... you're right. I should have added him, but he didn't enter my mind right away when I was trying to come up with ten choices. I'm guessing that Peter Paige would have garnered about 10% of the vote if he had been listed.

60. Remember "Little Richard Simmons"? --- An Eddie Murphy SNL Character
"When I was a small black child, I remember picking cotton... out of a little hole in my mattress."

Yep, Little Richard is definitely gay.

56. Graham Norton
but that was only because I was watching him last night whilst I was on the phone to Laz. He is coming to America quite soon for good, by all accounts.

I was secretly thinking of the duck 'though.

57. My gaydar is very good
and I'd have to say that flamboyant duck of yours has everyone beat. Hey Allen, did you watch Arrested Development last night? There was a gay demonstration going on and the mom character said EVERTHING THEY DO IS SO FLAMBOYANT; it makes me want to . . . . SET MYSELF ON FIRE.

on Christopher Lowell.

Graham Norton is cute. I love the audience participation portions of his show. Plus he once called himself a poofter.

I rushed when I was trying to come up with the names for my poll, and I didn't think of him right away.

Have we never heard of Charles Nelson Reilley? OMG. Between match Game, where he hobnobbed with the comic genius of Brett Summers, to his fabulous roles on Bewitched and H.R. Puffinstuff, he really lived the very gay life of Reilley. Not to mention his HAIR! Oy gevalt.

90. I admit, I did not know Christopher Lowell was gay...
I thought he looked good in his jeans on one show, it took a comment from my husband, for me to see it.

I had a thing for Tim Curry, never occurred to me that he may be gay. Is he?

I voted for Richard Simmons, though. Hell, I could be wrong, though. Apparently my powers of observation are shot, it is my husband who clues me in to these things. :dunce: :dunce:
