1. drank half a bottle of it late one night after the beer & whiskey were out |
puked my guts out for six hours straight. no need to try it again. no hallucinations just alcohol poisoning. but it was fun setting it on fire and the whole ritual with the sugar.

12. I Had Several Glasses Of It While Visiting Germany Earlier This Year... |
... it was quite an experience. I never got around to seeing green fairies, but I got a little buzz. About the same as if I'd had a couple of shots of anything else alcoholic.
It's a lovely crystal clear green that turns cloudy when mixed with water and sugar. Sipping it reminds me of the taste of Vick's Formula 44 cough syrup. If you like anise, then you'll love absinthe.

16. French friends tell me it was used during the war (some war) |
It is high proof alcohol that tastes like licorice, is usually mixed with water. The hallucinogenic part was that the soldiers were given this in the trenches (making it WW1?) to mix with unsafe water as a disinfectant. Also it was given and encouraged to be drunk in large quantities so they would get roaring drunk and rush out of the trenches over to the enemy lines to get shot and killed and perhaps the line would move forward a little bit. So it got thought of as hallucinogenic when it is really only really alcoholic. According to French friends.

18. Thujone does have some hallucinogenic properties |
It's not very strong though. I think it's like seeing in 3 1/2 dimensions.
