1. got a place to go tonight?
Odds are if he was gonna shoot you he would have. He just wanted the wallet, it's probably in a ditch now.

I think they usually try to dump things they can't use as fast as possible so they dont get caught.

5. yeah why not
It may be, could be in a trash can too.
It's a teenager. He probaly took the cards out, and the cash and chucked it. I doubt he means you any further harm. You co-operated with him and so it's not like he's out to get you. Think about if you've ever read about a story like the one you are scared of happening in the news. Probably haven't

21. sweetie, lock everything up. Have someone over and if that doesn't
happen, stay up and cook something. In the morning, go looking and if you find it, bag it. The cops can take prints and catch this wanker. Odds are that they are a drug head and just copped what they could use and tossed the rest. They don't know or care who you are but if you are nervous, stay on DU tonight and chat.

10. The kid is long gone
He's probably partying somewhere, dumped your wallet and has totally forgotten all about you. I know that probably doesn't help too much. But I don't blame you for being afraid. In fact, you wouldn't be reacting normally if you weren't afraid. Do you have a security plan of some sort in mind if any stranger were to break in? Not this kid specifically, just anybody. Maybe it's time to think about a plan so you'll feel more in control of your home. I just feel so bad for you, it's just terrible.

11. It'll be OK man, HEyHEY is right
These guys take the cash and throw the wallet away. As long as you've cancelled your credit cards, you'll be fine. But definitely do take precautions! Put a chair under the doorknob if that will let you sleep a little. If you feel like looking in the alley or in a dumpster for your wallet, go ahead. You might want to get a friend to give you a hand.
Another thing you might want to consider is to write letters to the three credit reporting agencies, alerting them to the fact that your wallet was stolen. This will help cover you if there's any identity theft down the road. I can give you their addresses if you PM me.
That guy who robbed you is probably higher than a kite right now. It's more important for you that you try to rest. Got any tape? tape over the seam of the door if you want; that way the noise of it ripping would wake you up if it were forced open. Just any little thing that will let you relax a bit is your next step. And if you just can't sleep at all, stay online and folks here will keep you company.

There's a bunch of stuff in here. There's also a directory of local services. I don't know what county you're in, so I didn't go through the whole thing. Maybe there's a program that can help.

15. I was robbed by armed teenagers once.
Edited on Tue Nov-04-03 03:01 AM by syrinx9999
I only had $20. They acted like they ran out of gas, and I stopped to help them, and one of them put a gun to my belly and demanded my money. And this was in a small town, I don't know, maybe 100,000 people. I know how you feel. Peace and good luck.

on edit: I forgot the guy with the gun hit me in the eye with the butt of his pistol, worst black eye of my life so far.

Are you male or menstrual?

C'mon, I know you to be a nice guy and your offer is a kind one, but leave us ladies outta the recriminations, okay?

If you need to know the details, then ask Corarose and get back with me to see if our stories differ in any way.

I don't "recriminate" a lady at any time, but can you allow a guy doing the right thing at the right time once in a while?

PM Corarose fot the dirt on my cat and my hotel room if you don't believe me.

27. I am not doubting your sincerity,
or your integrity, or your reputation as a good samaritan. I happen to know you are a pretty good guy. I don't need references.

I'm only objecting to you calling him "menstrual". It's sexist and wasn't necessary to imply he is acting like a "woman" if he is all shook up after being robbed at gun point.

19. Not the most politically correct title...
But that's incredibly kind of you. I think he needs to have a beer, settle down, then go down tomorrow and buy himself a nice shotgun.

I doubt he'll have to use it, but knowing you have the power to defend yourself brings about a certain peace of mind, which seems to be completely missing here.

I understand the original poster doesn't like guns, but well, it's a wicked world we live in.

23. A shotgun?
Who carries a shotgun around with them? Perhaps you mean a concealed weapon? I'm not sure that would have helped either. It might have gotten him killed instead.

31. well
He stated he's unemployed so will probably be home most of the time. I have a Glock personally, but when you need protection now, a shotgun is far easier to use than a handgun. A good pump action is also much cheaper.

As far "might have gotten him killed", according to FBI statistics you're less likely to be injured or killed if you have a gun than by not resisting. I'm not saying it's appropriate to every situation-- but at the very least it gives you an option.

Get a gun, you WILL feel safer. And dont give a shit if its a fake feeling or not. It helps. and you wont ever feel like youre helpless ever again.

If you really really dont like guns get pepper spray. Its a great thing aswell

28. good advice kamika
if you go for a gun, get a glock, thier light weight, i can draw it REALLY fast (but i'm used to drawing a DE.50AE7 a .50 cal pistol that weighs a ton) if you dont want guns in the house get a combat knife, i got one about a foot long and some fool pulled a gun on me and i cut his arm off with it

18. Carlos, I was robbed at gunpoint before..
I had to go to court for 18 months (I was the only one who picked him out of the line-up, so I was the only witness)..

Had to sit 10 feet from him and all his scummy family in the front row.. Sometimes you just have to DO WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO..

So he has your address.. If he does not have your keys, he probably will never bother you again.. You were a random target.. He probably threw everything in your wallet away as soon as he took the cash..

Buy renters insurance..take photos of what you have,,

make sure your car is alarmed or clubbed..

Put window braces in the track of your windows..

Carry a walking stick with you and don't linger..

The police will probably never ctach him.. The credit card companies will send you new cards..

Just chalk it up to GOOD LUCK.. you were not physically harmed, he probably did not get much, and what he did take can be replaced..

A friend of mine was held up at 7-11 (his first job) , only he was killed over $65.00.. This was Kansas City in 1968.. Crime can happen anywhere..

My family has lived in North Miami for 30 years, and they are not afraid to live there..

Criminals are actually everywhere..

You will be fine ..

34. Buy yourself a handgun. Learn to use it. Practice regularly.
Assuming you have no children, sleep with it by your bed.

And if you ever see that punk again, see if you can put a tight grouping of 9 mm holes in his chest.
