The ones on immigration, and class issues, religion, and vegans sometimes do. I find myself having to bite my tongue or in this case my fingers a lot.

But sometimes I have to sit on my fingers to keep from going straight to the Personal Attack. :P

In fact I think it would be cool if we had a "flame alert" option on here so anyone that signs up for it gets an alert in their PM so they can get to it before it gets shut down..lol.

I just ignore them. I started a few joking ones though. It is amazing that people will still take them so seriously! It is the LOUNGE for christsakes!:hi:

No, especially the types of flamewars that are here. Passionate people can disagree and even get a little bruised, as long as folks are willing to accept differences of opinion without assuming others are malicious.
I feel most are here without malice, unlike alot of unmoderated sites where disruptors with nothing but hate speech and ad hominem attacks rule the day.
We have controlled burns, and slow burns, but as for just plain incoherent hate-filled all-out flame wars? I guess I'm just seeing passionate discussions by people who have a differnces of opinion.
I'd rather have a DU bonfire than a freepercirclejurkenfest no?

I mean, freaking fried chicken and feral songbirds fer cryin' out loud.
All the widdle plush lounge teddie bears get all pissy and mad at each other and then tear the stuffing out of each other, stomp on it, set everyone's fake fur on fire and then huff off for a good long pout.
I mean reeeeeeeeeahhhhhlly people.
But I also have a pet theory that there are some people who shall remain unnamed unless they piss me off again who really love to instigate crap and they play just b-a-r-e-l-y under the admin rules to provoke and disrupt and posture and take great personal offense and outrage on behalf of all (your pet cause goes here) everywhere, and otherwise act like ugly fourth graders and I have ZERO patience for them and would rather be deleted speaking my mind than stick around holding my tongue.

Yeah lounge flame wars remind me of going out in college with a group of friends, there would always be some boor who needed to be at the center of every conversation. Usually sauced up and trying to start some argument.
Get yer cheap thrills on yahoo, ya hooligans!
They are just people trying to be funny by being "offensive" in their minds. the faux flamewars are annoying as hell.

20. the faux flamewars are the funniest ones |
|
because inevitably somebody steps into the crossfire thinking it's serious and starts issuing fatwas on everyone, or worse, somebody who's been goofing along with it decides they really are offended after all.

19. It depends on the subject and the nature of the flames. |

Sometimes I like reading them for their entertainment value, but I'm not into nastiness just for the sake of nastiness.
