12. Here's the deal

First of all, thank you to everyone that posted here. It's nice to have some company ;-)!

The race: I'm an incumbent. I was appointed one year ago as a result of our city charter. I have worked my ass off for the people of our city. Unfortunately for me (and two of my colleagues, also up for election,) one of our council members is attempting to get a rubber stamp for everything he and the mayor want to accomplish. They targeted all three of us by manufacturing "opponents" of their selection. My colleagues' opponents have all but dropped out of the race. I'm not so lucky :eyes:.

My opponent is a DINO. She couldn't get endorsements from the local Dems, so she went to the Repugs. They told her to get lost. She ran against me against the advice of several local party leaders as well. The only thing she has going for her, at this point, is that she has more energy than I do. She doorbelled; I wasn't able to because I have been having some truly awful problems with both knees.

Luckily for me, there were volunteers that were kind enough to doorbell in my stead. Also luckily for me, I know a lot of people in town, and most seem to believe I'm doing a good job.

We'll see if it translates to the voting box.

In the meantime, we were outside this morning in 25 degree weather, sign waving. I'll be out there again in a couple of hours for the rush hour.
