OK, who's as big a sap as me???
Anyone else hear leak tears at the drop of a hat??
The worst for me is sappy commercials: you know the one where the husband is (gently) chastising his wife for spending her/their money on supplies for her school kids, and then she sees him at the store in another checkout lane, going ahead and spending their money on supplies anyhow?? Just the looks they give each other make me melt.
MAN, I just bawl at that one...(I know it's just acting, ok, but I cry anyhow...)
So who else here is a big ol' weepy sack of whatever???

2. I've been known to cry when I see ads to feed hungry kids
There is a billboard here for NW Harvest, showing this little girl with an empty plate, and I just have to get a hold of myself when I'm driving if I see it. I can weep at the drop of a hat.

Saps of the world, unite!

6. Waves hand over head
Me Me!

Its one of the reasons I gave up TV. I'd get so embarrased/?/ for the characters (and maybe even the actors) that I'd have to leave the room all blushed..

9. I cry at the end of Braveheart
Weep, like a baby. It's utterly laughable.

I do the same during E.T. (but everyone does so its okay).

And at the end of A.I. - even though I didn't even like that movie.

10. Yep.
Sorta. ( I suffer from that "guys don't cry" syndrome). But sometimes when I am alone in the car, and the oldies station plays "Puff the Magic Dragon", I get a little leak around the tear ducts...

But it's just a piece of dirt in the eye, that's all.

*sniff*

but apparently I am. I've cried 3 times in the last 2 days over stuff posted in GD. *blushes*

But I'm not the worst and neither is anyone on the board. My best friend wins the all-time sap championship. She cries when Apollo Creed dies in Rocky IV. :-)

17. Oh yeah?!?
I regularly cry TWICE during Armageddon!! Top that. I am the sap of the year.

I also once cried during an episode of Fresh Prince of Belair (the one where Will's read dad shows up then blows him off)

26. I'm such a baby!
I took my nieces to see the Lion King when it came out. I cried at least five times and they stared at me like I was a freak.
Movies are the worst.
I still cry (after probably hundreds of times) whenever Dorothy has to say goodbye to the Scarecrow in the "Wizard of Oz".
I love old movies. The ones that make me cry the most are:
The Yearling
Lassie Come Home
Imitation of Life (50's version)
Mrs. Miniver

I'm such a sap.

16. Weddings - I always weep as daddy is walking daughter...
down that aisle - I am a daddy's girl big time (even at 44 *lol*) and that just gets me...
My dad was waiting with the groom for me (my brother did the aisle-walk thing) 'cause my dad is the minister who performed the marriage ceremony.

14. There are some things that get to me...
most of them are the usual suspects, wet mutts, hungry kids, lost lovers recently refound. But a lot of that goes to the writers and producers of such stuff.

I remember tearing up when that little girl came out of that well years ago. The shock of 9-11 caught me off guard, and once the anger subsided, I fell right in with the rest of the country. There was once a cartoon of Ryan White, the kid who was ostracized years ago because he got AIDS from a transfusion, and no one would touch him; he winds up in heaven being hugged by Jesus, with the caption, "At last, a place where someone is not afraid to hug me", just ripped my heart out and stomped it in the street. That one really ripped me up.

I like when I feel as if it is OK to tearm up; the whole macho thing is a little overblown. There are times when strength is an absolute necessity, but there is always room for tender acts of kindness and mercy.

O8)

15. I'm the same way..
Songs, movies, hearing about terrible abuse or child murders. I cried when Ted Williams died and I can cry just thinking about dear pets I've had that are no more.I'm not too comfortable with letting other people see me like that,so I usually have to leave the room if I'm not alone.

It goes in cycles though. Sometimes, I can go weeks without being very emotional, but lately everything seems amplified and all my emotions are on the surface.

There was this couple (on a soap opera I watch) that I became enthralled with - the woman got sick and was taken away to a mental institution (she killed her father, in self-defense, and it sent her over the edge), and I was just a wreck when the man was saying goodbye to her. And he became soooo dark when she was gone (they'd been in love for 20+ years). I'm such a sap for the angsty love story.

Mary Poppins - yup I cry everytime ol Mary leaves that kid with the big floppy ears!

Also, my husband and I BOTH cried while watching the new DVD, "Whale Rider" - That little girl giving her speech at school was the most heartbreaking scene I have seen in a long time. She deserves an Academy Award!

23. That movie "Frequency"
The one about the guy that talks to his dad over ham radio link that crosses 30 years. That gets me. A lot of manipulative movies do, even if they're not so well done.
In my case, and for a lot of others too I guess, it's unresolved grief at the core of it.

I never thought about it before, but I lost my dad the same way as the guy in the movie did. Probably the way that movie ended is a fantasy for a lot of people.

30. I am hopeless in that department.
The concluding scenes of "Life Is Beautiful" and "Cinema Paradiso" both caused me to weep uncontrollably, apparently to the consternation of two separate movie-going companions.

When the tanks rolled into Prague in "The Unbearable Lightness of Being," I also cried, and with "Romero," the tears began at the opening CREDITS.

And I don't know if anyone on this thread is familiar with the song "I Am the Bread of Life" (it's sung in some Catholic churches), but I can no longer get through that without breaking down. They played it last Sunday and I managed to sing along for part of it.

"And I will raise you up
And I will raise you up
And I will raise you up on the last day."

We sang that at Mass one Sunday after I'd just heard that a friend of mine from high school had been killed in an accident. Ever since then I cannot hear that song without crying.
