WOW - I Got One Hell Of A Raise At Work Today
I'm a young guy, stuck in his mid-20's, still trying to make in this cold, heartless, cruel world of ours....

:nopity:

Today I got a little break. I received my paycheck right before I left work and when I opened it I found that I was getting a lot more.

Now, being as young as I am and having a history of working retail, to me, a raise means you go from getting $5.25 an hour to $5.50 an hour.

Well, on this day I got a raise of over $150 a week.

:)

Yay me!

Now little Timmy might actually get that operation.

:P

spend it wisely. Today my husband applied for a job at the local supermarket in this little town-- at the age of seventy. He got the job and will have to appear there five days a week at 6:30 in the morning and stay there for four hours--his job is to do cleaning--the toilets and other things, come snow, sleet and whatever we will face in our twelve year old car to travel the ten miles to the store. We simply cannot survive on SS checks. I am also looking for a job to help things out.

2. good luck
I hope everything works out. I didn't mean to blow smoke in other's faces who are less fortunate than I am.

Its just, well, I don't get raises often, so this might be the last time I post something like this.

:)

8. I remember when I was in my mid-twenties
Clinton was in office, everything was good in the world and I was making about $90,000/year with recruiters calling me daily offering me great jobs. Today, in my 30's I've been unemployed 12 non-consecutive months and am currently working short term contracts for peanuts. Oh, the joys of life, sometimes you just have to laugh.

Seriously though, congrats on your raise. Spend some, but I'd suggest saving at least part of it for a rainy day (or a rainy 12 months). :)
