What's so great about California?
I like a few things I hear, but it gets increasingly negative.

What is good about CA these days?

1. southern california is unspeakably surreal

I found it to be Philip K Dickland.

Fantastic weather! I thought I loved the cold n' darkness, but realized I was apparently some sort of gothy poseur upon eagerly embracing constant blazing sunlight. It rained about twice in a year - after years of having film shoots go to hell due to rain, this pretty much sealed the deal for me.

Loved it, miss it, plan on getting back soon.

cue Al Jolson tune.

10. I'll agree with that
you and my kiddo at Pendleton. Aside from that, I'm ready to leave as soon as I get there. No grits, no real barbecue, don't even ask me about getting a coffee at the coffee/mexican drive thru in Fallbrook after 11:00 A.M.

I saw surreal in a post. I believe so Cal was Rod Serling's inspiration.

Oh, yeah - try being a chubb with a cigar. Now I know how the goldfish feels.

6. In the Sierras and up north there's still lots of forests,
rivers and lakes. There's plenty of beaches and oceans and for the those who like the desert, there's that. Also, we are pretty avante garde in a laid back sort of way.

The best part though, is that it's the only state that I have been in that you don't have to travel to meet people from all over the world because the world comes here.

9. You must live in SF or WLA.
Where I live I have to assume they are Republicans. It's such a joy when two of us realize we're both liberals at a party and we have to whisper to one another how glad we are to find each other.

12. I lived in Santa Monica for thirty years
and worked there and in WLA. I miss how liberal it was. I thought the whole country was like that. Boy did I get a shock when my husband retired and we started traveling around.

14. the California blond thing is a myth
down here in LA it's the land of many exotic peoples.

Long haired brunettes with olive skin abound.

And I really like that!

You gotta go to Santa Barbara to start seeing a lot of blondes.
