For the record, they didn't ask me to do a weekly column; I said, "You guys want me to do weekly column?" and they said "Sure."

But, that was after...13 individual articles they'd already put up, so it may take you a while.

5. Go for it. I've thought the same thing recently.

Seeing as the business is really slow this time of year, and I've been posting alot lately, I might as well start writing some editorials and such. A little more productive than the standard "What should I eat for dinner?" posts.

6. DU was the first to publish my political articles

I think they've published two this year-both I'm very proud of. Since then, neat things have happened for me; I'm getting paid for freelance work for the first time (BIG thing for me).

Go for it. And hold nothing back.

Log off the INTERNET, turn your phone off, and start writing. I'm assuming you have a topic in mind. I would ask you what that might be, but then I would have you writing a post about your article instead of your writing the article itself.

Then if DU won't post it, just post it yourself asking for criticism both positive and negative. Then take your next step based on those reactions.

I couldn't encourage you to do it any more. It's an absolutely great feeling to have an article on the front page. I wish I had the inspiration to do it more often.

I like to tell myself that it's helps me make a difference, writing. Is that true? I dunno. But it's a good feeling.
