I wrote a couple of hours ago about the failure of hyperlinks from DU while running AOL on a Dell notebook...
First, after several "help chats" AOL still doesn't work. But, while trying to get help the 2nd tech gave directions to run the internet explorer software.
Ok, so it seems that the explorer uses the online connection established via AOL and hyperlinks seem to work fine through the explorer software...
So my guess is that means all the hardware involved on my friend's new notebook is working. Am I right or could there be a problem in the notebook...its new, less than 40 hours running...

- Drop AOL and get a proper ISP.
- Use the browser AOL recommends - it's been "optimized" for all the horrible things they've done to cripple the account's access to the Internet
- If you actually get ahold of a competent technical person at AOL (dream on) find out what proxy information you need to know
