Poll question: I "hate" to say this but...
The word "hate" is used a lot around here it seems. The last few weeks have been pretty much filled with "downer" threads and I am wondering if there is a forum at DU that is a bit more "light-hearted" than the Lounge?
I get pissed at some thing in my life, but for the most part I try to lighten up as much as I can. Is it just me or does the heat seem to be getting to a lot of people lately?

So I made a poll.

That's why I didn't use the word "love". It's a bit "heady" for a lot of people.

I'm not good at judging trends, so I can't really say if the Lounge is any different now... but in general, complaining has always been a very popular pastime. :D

Replace 'hate' with 'loathe' or 'despise'.... more descriptive, and generally, more accurate :)

36. Definitely love waaaay more than I hate
It is a waste. I think the nature of a political BBS causes people's passions to rise with the inevitable resulting conflicts.
I reserve hate for ignorance and political 'leaders'.

39. It's less hate and more burnout
for many of us. We worked tirelessly for 4 years through the first admin of this nutcase, and yet through lying, cheating, stealing and yes, killing, these assholes got back into power. So we're more wary now, more resigned to what has become the norm of continual lying, cheating, stealing and killing, and are just too tired to argue about it anymore, because we're done in. It's supposed to be the time around when our new president is supposed to be in power and we're supposed to be relaxing, and we know we're due for more years of this shit and corruption, and it ain't fun.

40. Personally, I like to think of it as a catalogue.
There are going to be things I don't like and I'm not interested in, but, too, there will be things I want after and keep turning back to the dog-eared page.

Some folk just have a better time going through the catalogue focused only on what they can disdain, mock and put down in general. Others seem to not even see what they're not interested in, flipping rapidly through the pages until they find what they want.

Objectively, life is a catalogue that caters to a diverse community. There's something in it for everyone.

I agree that it can seem a bit of a downer sometimes around here. So much frustration and sadness and none of us is immuned. Spend some time learning which posters have dispositions you most enjoy and mesh with and focus on interacting with them.

41. It was just an observation
Most of the people here make me laugh a lot. Outside of DU I try to hang out with people that have a positive outlook even when times are tough. That sort of stuff just seem to rub off on ya when you are around it.
I get down too, I'm human, but this thread was just a bit of a thought that got out of me head.
