Update on Anglo-Saxon warrior woman article
Talked to the Medieval TA, and she said that the practice of putting ropes around the feet of the dead is indeed related to warrior burials, the theory being that the rope kept the warrior on earth to continue to protect kin. However, she said that my initial impression that she may have been a slave may hold up, since it's pretty much the first woman she's ever heard of buried like this.

If you have no idea what I'm talking about:

2. They've found

many graves like this now.

They were thot to be men at first...because they were buried with weapons....and ignored. Later examination of the bodies astounded them.

I should add on edit that the latest kick is to claim the weapons are there to show the high status of the woman's husband!

In spite of obvious damage from firing arrows, and from riding, and of course from being killed by weapons.

We need more women archaeologists.
