Yeah, but can you deep fry BEETS?
Man, this wok is gonna kill me. I've reached a new cooking paradigm:

"All things good, are better deep fried."

So I'm eyeing these beets, thinking -- beet fries? Why the heck not?

Mom always said beets were good for you. I'll change that...

9. YES but do them TWO ways
One in small slices to eat. Those take about 2 minutes. For fun do some sweet potatos too! Use a mandolin to get them real thin if you have one.

But ALSO, shred some beets and leeks with a grater (in the cuisineart) and deep fry them (about a minute) then drain on a towel and add them as garnish on a salad. MMMM Good!

14. Beets?
:puke:

I wonder why it is at Culinary College beets keep going bad.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! Can it be that they make people :puke:?

Just kidding you. Aren't they soft on the inside?

You could bread them and they try to deep fry them and see what happens.

We don't cook beets at my school.

16. My mom's a home ec teacher
and we had to eat all sorts of weird things growing up. Among them was yam/carrot/eggplant/mushroom/beet fries.

They're really not bad. And when you eat yam fries, you'll never go back to regular potato freedom fries.

20. Yeah, but why on God's green earth would you want to?
It's just not natural. It goes against the universal order of all things normal!

Sure you COULD do it, but why? You can do many things, for instance:

-Attend an "Ishtar" fanatic's convention.
-Debate the acting talent of Chuck Norris.
-Discuss at length the brilliance of the song "Gloria" by Laura Branigan.
-sit around in parachute pants and reminisce fondly and longingly for Reaganomics.

- but why in the hell would you WANT to do that?

Just not natural, I tell ya!

21. I never deep fried beets
I often chiffonade beet greens, however, and deep fry them to a delicate crispiness and use them as garnish on just about anything savory.
Kind of a peppery, very earthy flavor..very yum.

23. Terra chips
These contain all manner of odd fried things. Very tasty!

Don't forget the deep fried Oreos and Twinkies!!

Speaking of french fries, I just bought this stuff called 'black salt' from Pakistan from a local importer, aka kala namak. It's table salt mixed in with some sulfury volcanic stuff that makes it sorta of reddish-pink. Combined with fresh hot Hungarian paprika this makes a phenomenal fry/hash brown/baked potato spice. Yum!!

Yes, it does exist. Had it at the Renaissance Festival. Not bad. :9

Proof that any and most everything can be fried.
