Johnny Cash "Hurt" just hurt Daryll Woorley and Toby Keith |
|
Was hoping that "Have You Forgotten" piece of crap wouldn't win Single of the Year. Thank You Johnny.

Country Music Awards?
Either way, His version of Hurt is like a whole other song, I love it.

12. It's so incredible because you KNOW Johnny lived it |
|
He wrings more emotion out of that song than I've heard in a long time, from any song.

I have little to no problem with Alan Jackson, so I'm happy he won over Keith and Worley.

9. The Man In Black still Kicking Ass! |
|
Go Johnny!
One of the first 45's I ever owned, on SUN Records:
Hey, Porter, Hey Porter! Would you tell me the time? How much longer will it be 'Til we cross that Mason Dixon Line? At daylight will you tell that engineer to slow it down; Or better still, just stop the train 'Cause I want to look around.
Hey, Porter! Hey Porter! What time did you say? How much longer will it be 'Till I can see the light of day? When we hit Dixie will you tell that engineer to ring his bell; And ask everybody that ain't asleep to stand right up and yell.
Hey, Porter! Hey Porter! It's getting light outside. This old train is puffin' smoke and I have to strain my eyes. But ask that engineer if he will blow his whistle please, 'Cause I smell frost on cotton leaves, And I smell that Southern breeze.
Hey, Porter! Hey, Porter! Please get my bags for me, I need nobody to tell me now that we're in Tennessee. Go tell that engineer to make that lonesome whistle scream. We're not so far from home so take it easy on the steam.
Hey Porter! Hey Porter! Please open up my door. When they stop this train I'm gonna get off first 'Cause I can't wait no more. Tell that engineer I say, "Thanks a lot. I didn't mind the fare. I'm gonna set my feet on Southern soil And breathe that Southern air."

OK, I'm not sure if he wrote that or not, but after the shit he pulled, the sentiment remains.

|
That's the Rick Rubin of Run D.M.C. and Beastie Boys fame, not to mention Danzig, Slayer, anything else Def Jam records, then Def American Records, then just plain American Records. Heh.

I'm so glad Johnny's "Hurt" won. Eat s***, Toby Keith! Anyway, Johnny's version far surpasses Trent Reznor's. RIP Johnny.

22. That's how hicks do things. |
|
They give awards to dead people a lot- or their sons. Like when Dale Earnhardt died and Jr. suddenly won the very next race, when he'd never won a damned thing in his life. How romantic!

24. Real nice... thats how you win elections |

by alienating a whole genre of music. WE are democrats... if I want to listen to country music, and honor dead legends... thats my right.

28. How is this political? |
|
And I didn't call you a hick, specifically. I'm sorry for giving that impression, but I don't like this idea that just because somebody dies suddenly everything has to become romanticized and even sporting events have to have their outcomes pre-determined to fit into the idealistic yearnings of the masses. It devoids the true meaning in things.

He won the awards because he was one of the great ones.
So, tell us about Kenny G's latest hits. Or maybe you're a John Tesh fan....

I liked the original much better. His is alright.
What about Dale Jr., though? Aren't you noticing a pattern? Where's the frickin' integrity?

26. Country artists live by a creed |
|
That what ever gripe you have, you keep it out of the public. Darely Woorley and Toby Keith made their gripe public, and the country community responded.
No effin trophies for you guys.
Man, Jonnhy Cash would be proud of the amount of whiskey I drank tonight.
