I still don't know what to say except I really want to help you figure a way out of Florida and back to Maryland. You have just been miserable since you got there and this whole experience is like icing on a cake made of shit.

For your own well-being, we need to get you back in a familiar environment.

It isn't as though this couldn't have happened anywhere- it could have.

I really feel for you. When so many things have you down, it is hard to get back up. Yes, you need to escape Florida. It is hard to deal with all these things alone. I am rather far away and you probably don't want to go to Wisconsin, but we'll see what can be done if you really need help.

Ditch the gun idea though... It can hurt you so much more easily than it can help you. Sounds like you don't have much out there (I remember your SUV post)- just pack it all up and get out of there. This is not a kind or easy world when you don't have money... Please don't ever forget though that some people live with the kind of fear you're experiencing (though it numbs over time) everyday of their lives. Get out of there...

And if you want, send me your CV. I would be happy to check it out for you and make it as appetizing as possible- it's one of the things I do well (so they say) and I would be happy to do that for you.

On edit: Try to calm down... If you feel like it, just go sit in a Church for a little while... It's going to be ok. I'll say a prayer for you before closing my eyes tonight...

14. Carlos, here is a psalm that works very well for me

I say it when I am scared. I like the KJ version for the poetry.

When I was younger (and living in Florida)I got very sick and was in the hospital. I went through one health and/or emotional crisis after another. I was agoraphobic and on top of that my hormones were out of whack. I ended up having a hysterectomy at the age of 30 which was very difficult because it meant no more kids.

Anyway I was lying in bed in horrible pain and this very old African American woman was in the other bed. She was also in pain and she would keep saying "thank you Jesus" over and over..... I thought she was a little nuts frankly. Why the heck would she being saying "thank you" for all that pain?

One day she caught me crying (I don't remember why now) and she came over and handed me this little card with psalm 23 on it and told me it would help me. Well of course I had heard the psalm before, but a prayer card? Jeesh! You have got to be kidding!

But she was right. I said it and it helped. Now I know it by heart and say it when I am most afraid. I have said it many times since then and I try to sing it at least once a year in church as a thank you to that old woman who was so sure she knew what would help a stranger.

I am so sorry for all your troubles. You have been unhappy since you moved to Florida. I agree with others, you need to get out of there.
