My Rush Limbaugh Compulsion |
|
Don't laugh at me, I'm making progress on my Rush Limbaugh compulsion. It's a variant of Tourette's Syndrome and it makes me blurt out "Rush Limbaugh is a drug addict!" at inappropriate times and places.
I've found that concentrating on state capitals helps. The capital of Maine is Augusta. The capital of Texas is ... Austin? Anything, ANYTHING to stop this compulsion to blurt out "Rush Limbaugh is a drug addict"! The capital of Russia is Moscow. The capital of Brazil is Brasilia. Rush Limbaugh is a drug addict. Oops, I did it again.
I am trying so hard to quit. Don't laugh at me, it's not funny. Rush Limbaugh is a drug addict.

You're right. It's not funny. Rush is indeed an addict and is probably going through some WAY tough times right now. Withdrawal from pain killers is right up there with giving up heroin, or so I've heard. I've always thought that Rush was a pretty pathetic character. A lonely fat man---kind of a tragic figure, like that old Steve Martin routine from the '70s where he imagines Dick Nixon, post-resignation, walking along the empty beach with a metal detector, trying to fill all that empty time. (Hilarious bit, by the way.) My point is, I feel I need to have some compassion for Rush as a fellow human. Then again, if he comes back bigger and more popular than ever, I'll be annoyed as hell. But seriously? I don't see that happening. I think this turkey's goose is cooked.

4. Here's the difference... |
|
As evil as Nixon was, he did more good in one day of office than El Bushblow did in a life-time of talk radio.

I guess I agree. What "good" has Rush ever done? But which "one day of office" were you referring to? Just curious...

7. lol...I was talking in general... |

I'm saying that Rush was so evil that Nixon did more good in one day in office than Rush did in his entire life, and considering how evil Nixon was (I have some book of lists (Mme. Tausaud's wax museum bok of lists or something) from the late-70s, and in some years he even out-ranked Hitler, Stalin, Castro, or Satan on the most-hated list.), that says a lot.

Heh-heh-heh! Yeah, I've read that same list. Hilarious! Thanks for reminding me of it. By the way, if you want to read more about Nixon and his whole crazy world, I'll recommend two excellent books: "The Time of Illusion" by Jonathan Schell, and "Nixon Agonistes--The Crisis of the Self-Made Man" by Garry Wills.

Rush may be pathetic but he doesn't get any sympathy from me. He's getting a lot of unearned sympathy from his supporters, who are probably feeling it for the first time in their nasty cold lives.

9. sympathy for the devil |
|
Sympathy from Rush sycophants and toadies is no sympathy at all. It's empty, soulless rhetoric, almost by definition. What I was talking about was an attempt to see Rush as a human being first. Hey, I dig why you have no sympathy for him. I won't argue with that at all. I'm just saying that for ME personally, where I'm coming from now in my life, I can understand where he's at. I believe in karma. Or, to put it another way, and referring specifically to Rush's current state: poison out, poison in.

Is that Rush has referred to his listeners as "having an addiction for which there IS no cure." He has also referred to being "addicted to truth."
Funny how those little addiction references just sorta snuck in to Pigboy's routine.
