Hannitized 7x more likely to believe we're visited by space aliens |

Republican voters on Hannity's webboard are more likely to believe space aliens are visiting Earth. 29% of Republican voters said they believe space aliens are visiting Earth, whereas 4% of Democratic voters said the same.
I more often vote Republican and believe space aliens are visiting Earth. 29% I more often vote Republican and don't know if space aliens are visiting Earth. 8% I more often vote Republican and don't believe space aliens are visiting Earth. 29% I more often vote Democrat and believe space aliens are visiting Earth. 4% I more often vote Democrat and don't know if space aliens are visiting Earth. 20% I more often vote Democrat and don't believe space aliens are visiting Earth. 8%

1. It's been fun there today |

Especially the poster who wants Ted Kennedy executed. I will be sure to call in to the radio shows tonight and over the weekend to bring this up as an example of their hatred for the Left. You missed one catagory though.
I vote Republican BECAUSE I am an alien.

As an AlienGirl I resent that remark! We are far too civilized and advanced to vote Republican!

2. The reverse is actually true |

Belief that we're not alone is a Progressive viewpoint.
There was also a major poll done about 6 years ago (Gallup perhaps? I forget which) that showed Republicans overwhelmingly DID NOT believe in UFO's (Blasphemy and all that).
My own research has proven this as well.
Robert Kennedy, Carter and Clinton (among others) are also on the "believers" side.

universe" and "aliens are visiting the earth".
One is an acknowledgement of the size of the universe, it reflects at least a passing familiarity with with science. The other is... well... something else.

I just figured that was so obvious that there was no reason to articulate it. The point is the same.

And that's DEFINITELY the wrong way to read those statistics. It's not that 29% of Republicans believe space aliens are visiting Earth and 4% of Democrats feel the same. It is that, of the people who responded to this poll, 33% believe aliens are visiting us. 4% of that is Democrats, 29% is Republicans. If you want to divide on party lines-- 29 out of every 66 Republican respondents believe aliens are visiting us, therefore 44% of Republicans believe. 4 out of every 32 Democrat respondents believe aliens are visiting us, therefore 12.5% of Democrats believe.
That's still a big disparity, but it's not quite seven times. Now, another problem with this poll is that it is totally unscientific. It does not list its margin of error (it obviously has one, since the numbers don't add up to 100), and the respondents are volunteers, on a conservative board. This data is quite skewed.
And I personally believe it's ridiculous to think we're the only intelligent beings in the universe. Do I think they've visited us? I'm not sure. Do I think they're out there? Without a doubt.
