matrix Reolutions did NOT suck! |
|
In fact, it made up for Reloaded all the way--no wasted scenes, no long winded speeches, no head scratching--I had a feeling those movie crtics weren't watching the smae movie I did. Neo with no emotions/--then exlain how (spoiler alert) he nearly cracked after Trinity died. What about Link's girlfriend having a big role in defending Zion? She was awesome, along with the kid who rode with Neo and Trinity in the elevator (back in Reloaded)--he was the one who opened te gate and allowed Morpheus and Jada P Smith to return alive.
This should be a lesson--pay no attention to the critics on tv and in prin about movies--you should always decide for yourself on what's a good movie and what's not. These are the same assholes who throw Bennifer and the Kobe Bryant shit in our faces :eyes:

1. Sorry, but - oh yes it did! |
|
Some of the most ridiculous dialogue I have heard. Action scenes totally rocked, the special FX were bang on, but the rest of the flick was a huge let down (and believe you me, I reeeeaaaaly wanted to like this movie).

I also like Revolutions. I saw it twice. So nyahh! :P
I thought it was good enough. It was certainly all I wanted in the movie and a little more.
I've heard a lot of people disliked the movies ending. Not enough unicorns and ewoks singing and dancing I guess.

3. ridiculous like....Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Dune, Gladiator, |
|
Spartacus, Ben Hur, The Ten Commandments, or Planet of the Apes? That kind of ridiculous? What should they talk about? How Neo is struggling to pay rent? How stupid would they sound if David Mamet wrote the dialogue? Or Tarantino?

exactly what were you expecting, king lear? the dialogue from ALL of the matrix movies is a bit stilted, on purpose!
these guys set out to capture the feel of a japanese manga and bring the prevailing concepts of hard sci-fi to the american people. this wasn't a movie for kiddies and i think frankly the concepts were a bit beyond the average american filmgoer.
think i'm kidding? try reading the works of greg bear, william gibson, orson scott card plus a heaping helping of the new testament and the kaballah and tell me that concoction that the w brothers cooked up wasn't just about perfect.
and the film ended exactly as it should have for any film that is about ideas rather than just blowing things up cool.
i'm not saying that you're stupid if you didn't like the film but i am saying that if you have that strong of a reaction against it that chances are pretty good that you don't like film all that much in the first place; and oh yeah, you're probably stupid.

oh yes, pulp SF is waaaaaaaaaaaaay beyond the Average American, I mean the Matrix movies are so avant garde - so oblique, so riddled with heavy meaning.
Someone dig up Joe Campbell to exhaustively drone on about the rich mysteries of guys in black leather.
Awww, just like Sister Ray says!

...if you think these flicks (particularly revolutions) are about guys running around in black leather then i rest my case.
i'd say the 'man-machine' interface and quanton physiogomy is a bit beyond pulp sf. but what the hell, i like the old heinlein crap just as well.

i'm just glad somebody's doing it; in 70mm glory, no less. aren't you?
i mean, would you rather hollywood kept on pushing out sci-fi like 'soldier' or 'jason x'?

...didn't he cash in with 'from hell' and 'the league of extraordinary gentlemen'?
he's probably embarassed that he had anything to do with the 'league' though. he should sue the filmmakers for all they're worth.

it might get REAL screwed up just like 'johnny pnemonic' did after they let gibson write the screenplay.
alan moore simply doesn't have enough juice for the suits to give him the creative control that he would need

18. what an atrocity that was |
|
at least they put Takeshi Kitano in it.
His movies are pretty fucking great too, he has a demented original style of filming action - everything is still, slow, and thoughtful - suddenly a blaring burst of extreme ultraviolence smacks you in the face.

WOW! I was about to check out his japanese website, as I was wondering what was next after BROTHER...
what a fucking great choice!
I love his slapstick, he did some of that already in the Zatochi sequence of "Getting Any Lately?" or whatever that Car-sex comedy was called.

8. And so ... you got it? You were able to figure it out? |
|
Please do tell. We have this myth by a guy named Aesop. Seems this fox wanted some grapes but try as he might he could not reach them. So he stomped off complaining that they were probably sour grapes anyway. So did you like having me explain the origins of sour grapes or could I have just said sour grapes and expect you to bring some knowledge to the conversation and understand what I was saying.
Just because you didn't get it doesn't mean it sucked. Doesn't mean you suck either. Just means you have not had the right set of experiences to understand the context. You have a couple of choices. You can delve into it deeper and educate yourself to the concepts found there in. Or you can sit back and enjoy the F/X and wait for the next Star Wars film where they have prechewed the plot for you and replaced it with a muppet.

Taste is a weird thing, hmmm?
And Star Wars is even worse. Don't get me started! No need to see any of those piles of crap after "Phantom Menace".
Shudder!

20. Q: is it possible to understand "revolutions" w/o first seeing "reloaded"? |
|
i didn't see "reloaded" because friends told me it sucked. but i want to see "revolutions" if it's good and if i don't have to watch "reloaded" in order to understand it.

...you look at it in context with the 3rd film. they were filmed as one movie and they flow very nicely together; with the 3rd film being much better paced but that's understandable if you consider that reloaded was merely the set-up
