Ever know an Eagle Scout? (story to make you go hmmmmmm) |
|
I did - and its a funny story. He was, as a teen, the model citizen. Built up a small business as one of his projects, was also a member of Future Businessmen of America. Basically your capitalists capitalist.
Then in college, Brett discovered marijuana. He loved it, but what really impressed him was the markup. You see to grow pot (which is a highly durable weed, and will grow in spite of you) it only costs about $200 for a basic setup.
After getting 10 plants grown producing 1 ounce each, he could then sell this for a few hundred dollars, providing a ROI of double after one crop.
In addition, he could use the money to buy better lights (High Pressure Sodium and Mercury Vapor), fans and equipment to build a basement farm. This was in Oregon, where homes come with basements pretty often. And another advantage of the basement, is that you can throw off the light detectors cops use.
Of course things expanded, and he used solar panels to throw off cops (cops use electric bills to bust you too.)
Basically, he used his Eagle Scout skills to become a world class Oregonian pot farmer.

Still growing pot....and doing very well financially.
Not too hard to cover your expenses if you're official job is 'day trader' (I guess in a way he is...)
As he said, the key is to make your legitimate finances so complicated and confusing that no Federal Employee would ever want to invest the time to track everything down.
Funny too - despite his profession, he has a reverence for true capitalism that I've never seen in another person before.

A very close relative of mine is in the Narcotics Bureau and they watch these people for a long long time. I bet you anything they know his name, at least. Careful is key! (Unless he is a small timer)

Better that than dealing in some narcotic that actually destroys people. Or running a liquor store....

It's interesting...I am of the mind that there is nothing more capitalist than the black market drug trade. Prices change due to the 'invisible hand', despite what movies say there are no monopolies, and there never could be...

totally liberal jazz musician who forced his way through scouts to get money to go to college. Just to study jazz saxophone, which he is doing right this moment.
