I've been up over 24 hours...trying to write an essay......fading fast...

I'm trying to learn how to write.

I spend all day reading essays...but when I try to write one myself all I can do is punch out a few lame sentences.

Three days ago I finally crunched out a 1500 word essay! I was so proud. I was about to post it to DU, then my computer crashed and I lost the whole thing.

Arrrrgggggg! Now I'm so crest-fallen I don't know what to do.

What's especially bothersome is when you see people like William Rivers Pitt or the Plaid Adder crunch out great essays week after week.

I just got off the phone with a writer-friend of mine. She says that the best writers were alcoholics and that if I want to write I should try drinking a few beers. I'm going to try it tonight...after I'm done posting this reply to you I'm off to the store for a six-pack. (You think I'm kidding, don't you? But damn-it I want to learn how to write!!! )

I'll make a deal with you: If you promise to write your essay tonight...I will re-write my erased essay.

Do we have a deal?
