Hero cop's downward spiral tied to porn addiction
MIDLAND, Texas - In 1987, Midland police Sgt. Andy Glasscock was among first responders called to an abandoned 25-foot water well shaft to rescue 18-month-old Jessica McClure.

The nation held its breath as rescuers worked day and night to hoist baby Jessica out of the well to safety. For Glasscock, the ensuing stress proved too much to take.

Interviewed July 11 at Ector County Jail in Odessa, Texas, his temporary home after pleading guilty to state sexual assault charges, Glasscock said that after the rescue he found himself addicted to excitement - and Internet pornography.

"That's the one thing Jessica did - adrenaline," he said. "I seemed to have to have more and more to function. After the Jessica rescue, I went and sought help because it was nearly destroying my marriage. I was always on TV and got the big head."

Midland Police Chief John Urby said he is sorely disappointed. "We're high exposure, high profile people held to a higher standard and Andy didn't live up to his end of the deal," said Urby.

1. Yeah, it's all the internet's fault...
...did we EVER live in a time when people took responsibility for their own actions???

Nice last paragraph, too:

Glasscock said: "I look at it like the old cartoons back in the '60s where they showed God on one shoulder and the devil on the other and both of them arguing back and forth through your head. Satan won out, but he's not going to win anymore. God is with me."

2. Of course this will be blamed on.............
the "Liberal conspiracy", not Mr. Glasscock's (hmmmm) own moral shortcomings. I can see the fundies rallying around Glasscock now (no pun intended), it's not HIS fault, he's a good Christian man that was lead astray by the demon Liberals and their anti-god, anti-family agenda!
It's always the same, some Republican jerk can't keep it in his pants because of years of repression by his strict Christian upbringing, and it's always the "'Liberals" fault. Just wait, this is what you'll be reading in Midland, Texas next.

3. At least his first name isn't 'Randy'
Pity about the surname, though...

4. There's no such thing as "porn addiction"...
that's a lame fucking excuse. If this sick bastard was looking at child pornography, and committed rape (several times), he obviously has some serious problems that have nothing to do with pornography. That's like blaming Grand Theft Auto for turning you into a murderer...

6. Another slimball with the Ted Bundy defense
Porn made me do it. Maybe he get get Pat Robertson to help him get a lighter sentence.

What a crock - and a shame that a newspaper would even print the phrase "porn addiction".
